#1 The venue

A hotel ballroom might be the first thing that comes to your mind, but giving it more personality can require more decor, effort, and moolah on your part. The venue often sets the tone for the mood of your celebration so take the time to explore your options and find one that reflects your persoanlity.

#2 Lighting

Warm lighting instantly gives a space a cosier and more welcoming vibe while cool lighting lends a harsh vibe. Plus, soft amber lighting looks way more flattering in your wedding pictures. Adding candles to each table also lend that romantic glow.

#3 The food

Plated dinners are more sophisticated but buffets make your wedding seem like a big get-together rather than a formal affair. Plus, it promotes mingling and interaction too. Think a buffet’s too casual? Think again. A themed setting, or simply having the dishes in varying heights and crockery can help transform the look of your buffet area. Consider splitting the spread into two or three long tables so guests don’t have to wait too long in the line.  If you have the budget, throw in an interactive element, like a food cart or station.

#4 Furniture and centrepieces

If your venue allows for it, going for lounge furniture gives your celebration a more relaxed vibe. Think comfy couches, sofas and cushions. When it comes to centrepieces, tall, dramatic ones impart a sense of grandeur. Shorter ones create a homier feel while encouraging conversation.

#5 The ceremony

Having rows of chairs can make the guests at the back feel a little left out. One way to remedy this? Opt for a circular layout instead, with your guests surrounding your chuppah or platform. Not only can your guests see you more clearly, it also makes a large wedding seem more intimate. Bonus point: You’ll literally be the centre of attention.
