So you’ve been staying up late working on the guest list or fussing over the never-ending list of things to do. And then, you notice those ghastly blue-ish black rings around your peepers – not what you had in mind for a glowing bridal complexion.

Want to get rid of them? The answer doesn’t lie in getting more sleep. Because once dark eye circles set in, they’re there for a while and no amount of sleep could make them better. Here are some things you can do to prevent and better the appearance of your dark eye circles.

Raw Potatoes

Raw potato juice has enzymes that can be used as a mild bleaching agent to help lighten the appearance of dark eye circles. You can either choose to soak a cotton wool in raw potato juice and place them on your eyes or use thick slices of potato to cover your eyes for about 15 minutes.

Tomatoes

Other than having mild bleaching properties, tomatoes also contain antioxidants, both of which assist in lightening the appearance of skin. You can either mix it with lemon juice, or apply the juice alone on your dark rings, then let it sit for about 10 minutes a day.

Lemon Juice

If you’d rather have your tomato in a salsa or Bloody Mary, you can use lemon juice on its own, thanks to its Vitamin C. Soak a cotton wool and place it on your eye for about 10 minutes. Do it once every few weeks because lemons contain a pretty strong bleaching agent.

Alternatively, dilute with some water.
