Look to your home
You can save on venue or decor costs. If you have ample space at home for a small and cosy celebration, dress it up and you’re all set. Or learn a tip from Jade Seah she used some of her own picture frames as decorative items for her wedding reception tables. Personal knick-knacks and furnishings can lend a personal touch to your decor and celebrations. Best of all? You save on your decor costs!

Source online
If you like something more creative and crafty, Etsy’s a great resource. Other sites or apps like Carousell has a design & craft section where you’ll find all the tools you’ll need, including washi tape, fabric buttons and other fun items. You can also google online for sites and youtube videos that have tons of creative DIY ideas for the decor, food and even the wedding wardrobe.

Beg, borrow, or simply seek help
This extends to borrowing decor items or seeking help for things such as invitations, flowers and other tasks they’re good at. This also applies to seeking help from your guests. For instance, instead of a professional videographer, outfit them with flip cams, or ask them to help take little clips, which you can then pull together after the wedding.

Make your own
While we won’t advise you take on too many DIY projects, there are certain things you can try. For instance, your flowers, centrepieces, stationery and veils.

Unlikely avenues
From your wedding dress to venues, wedding party outfits or decor, consider non-wedding alternatives instead. You can look to the high street brands, non-hotel venues, or craft stores like Art Friend or stores that sell curios you can put together for the reception table, and then some.
