The couple kicked off their festivities with a pre-wedding party and reception for 200 guests, including Solange’s big sister Beyonce, brother-in-law Jay Z and family friend, singer Janelle Monae. The wedding included traditions such as a second line down the city streets, but it broke wedding rules in other ways. Here’re five:

1. AN ALL-WHITE WEDDING IS NO FAUX PAS
Usually it’s only the bride wearing all-white at her wedding; but Solange, who looked fiercely stylish in a caped Humberto Leon for Kenzo dress, invited guests (including Beyonce and mother-of-the-bride Tina Knowles) to dress up in the same shade. The result? Sharp pictures for the (editorially-styled) photo album (which was first revealed on www.vogue.com). Also in white: Her groom, who looked dapper in Lanvin, and the rest of the guests.

2. YOU DON’T NEED A LIMO TO TRAVEL IN STYLE
The couple made their way to the Marigny Opera House in the Baywater district of New Orleans, where they had their ceremony, on matching white-painted bicycles. Solange’s was decorated with cream roses.

3. THE BRIDE HAD FIVE OUTFITS

Besides the Humberto Leon for Kenzo dress for the ceremony, which she matched with gold cuffs from Jill for Lady Grey, Solange had four other outfits for her wedding: she wore three Stephane Rolland jumpsuits; a caped cream creation on her way to church, a one-sleeve jumpsuit post-ceremony, and another jumpsuit with keyhole cut. She also wore a Stephane Rolland wrap dress for the reception (all the better to dance with, we say).

4. PINTEREST-WORTHY INSPIRATION
Photographer Rog Walker took references from contemporary Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft who’s known for her photography, drawings, paintings, sculptures and others. The wedding photos and bridal portraits looked every inch of perfection.

5. WHO NEEDS FIRST DANCES?
Instead of a first dance with her new husband, Solange took to the stage with her 10-year-old son Daniel Julez (from her previous marriage to Daniel Smith), and performed a neatly choreographed dance to “No Flex Zone” by Rae Sremmurd.
