1. Dress before flowers
Confirm your wedding dress before your flowers as the design of the bouquet will completely be dependent on the style, shape, colour and detail of your dress. Once you’ve chosen your dress, bring along a picture of it to show your floral designer. The bouquet should complement your dress, and not overwhelm it. Ask your dressmaker if you have spare material from your dress, as we may use it to tie your blooms together.

2. What’s in season
Try to pick flowers that are in season. Certain blooms are seasonal, and it can get very expensive off-season, or they might be unavailable. If that’s the case, either try to aim for your next favourite flower, or something that resembles your first choice.

3. Colour choice
We’re not asking you to choose your colour theme according to your bouquet, but you may if you choose to. Our colour palettes are usually in line with the four seasons in the Northern Hemisphere: Spring, summer, autumn and winter.

4. Shape and style
The two most popular styles today are round and cascading bouquets. But the most important thing when choosing a type, is your personality. If you’e opting for a dramatic or cascading bouquet, be sure that you have the confidence to tote it down the aisle. Of course, make sure that the arrangement will not hide the details on your dress.

5. Make it personal
Include personal touches into your bouquet to make it your own. For instance, family heirlooms such as an antique brooch, lace hanky, or something from your relatives can always be worked into the arrangement.

6. Trust your florist
When you have confirmed your florist and the design, trust him or her to do his or her job. While we welcome input from brides, it’s hard to get our job done properly with bridezillas breathing down our necks. Remember: Trust your own instincts and their professional expertise.
