There’s always something about vintage bridal gowns – whether they give us an insight into the trends back then, or are infused with details we can’t refuse, we can’t help but be drawn to the workmanship that have gone to these pieces of art.

And gowns from the 1950s (a decade defined by a period of style, sophistication and etiquette, which saw many brides opting for long-sleeved gowns) have been a source of inspiration for most brides through the ages.

Gowns from the 1980s on the other hand exemplified the princess bride. Popularised by the late Princess Diana, who wore a dramatic ivory silk taffeta and antique lace gown at her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981, brides soon fell in love with the large puffed sleeves, full skirt and dramatic train, which then became the go-to style for many at the time.
