According to bridal salons and designers here, strapless, and bustier wedding dress, are the most popular designs among local brides. While brides in Hong Kong seem to prefer more elegant styles that cover the shoulders and arms, Singaporean brides share the same preference as Taiwanese and Malaysian brides.

If you’re planning to walk down the aisle in a gorgeous off-the-shoulder ballgown, or a slinky and glamorous bustier mermaid dress, it would be best to keep the attention on the gown and the bride – avoid too much bling!
A strapless gown highlights the bride’s neck and shoulders, and the jewellery you wear should enhance these aspects.

Here are some tips:

The main rule
Unless your jewellery pieces are simple and classic, try to wear matching designs from a collection; a bridal set offers a seamless look and design that will complement your wedding dress. It takes a fine, discerning eye to pick individual jewellery pieces that can be pulled together to match your wedding dress.

If you have a long neck…
You can wear a shorter necklace or choker that would balance the proportion of your neck with your shoulders. A shorter necklace can also draw attention from bony collar and shoulder bones. Just pick a style that is more romantic and feminine – not something chunky or thick.

If you have a short neck…
Drop the necklace and opt for chandelier earrings that would help ‘lengthen’ your neck. If you do have to wear a necklace, choose something slim and delicate, possibly with a pretty diamond pendant.

If you’re wearing a bustier gown…
…and opt not to wear a necklace, match your statement earrings with a chunkier bracelet to keep your arms from looking too bare. Match that with a beautiful diamond ring.

If you’re wearing an off-the-shoulder dress…
A slim delicate bracelet would be a beautiful accent. Keep it delicate and sparkly!
