Personalised touches like purple and blue balloons with the bride and groom’s names, as well as the wedding date, made the event all the more memorable.

Tan Wan Jun and Lai Wai Kit, both 30, had a celebration fileld with fun and laughter. She tells us:

“We wanted a one-of-a-kind party that reflected us as a couple, so we opted for a dinner banquet that incorporated details like a mix of round and long tables, as well as programmes that resembled musical programme booklets. Some tables also had pictures we’d previously taken with guests at those tables.

Dinner was a heartwarming affair, more than a celebration, it was an opportunity to give thanks to God and to our parents for raising and guiding us. We were also very touched that our friends flew in from around the world to join us.

We sent save-the-date messages via balloons and guests had to blow them up to get the details. When they replied, we thanked them with individual notes.

The stained glass windows at the church entrance made for a lovely shot of the bride.

The five-tiered cake was embellished with crystals.

“We kept daring each other to do something silly while walking up the aisle. When the big day arrived, however, we were glad that we looked our best.”

It’s finally over! We had a great time and wouldn’t have changed a thing.

My top tip? Start planning early. Wai Kit and I started a year before and, while our journey was full of bumps, we enjoyed the process.”
