Stefanie Thaslim and Samuel Tay, both 24, had a chic black- and-ivory wedding. She tells us:

“We had a small ceremony with just 90 guests, at the Armenian Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator Singapore.

I chose a sleek gown with black trim, while Samuel wore a classic tux, and we picked pale champagne as a contrasting hue for our entourage.

We wanted a chic, cosy do, so we decided on Monu@Nomu (an apartment-styled space) for our reception. Guest list: 125 of our family and friends. The idea was to have everyone mingle, and enjoy our three-course dinner which included a dessert buffet with macaron and profiterole towers, cupcakes and strawberries.

We used black and ivory hues for the reception decor, and added personal details such as paper planes to represent our long-distance courtship (Sam and I met when he was studying in London). We also named the tables after the cities we had visited together.

We gave away stylishly simple favours – slices of chocolate cake in jars decorated with ribbons.

Wedding planning can be stressful, but brides should make the effort to relax and enjoy the process. It definitely helps make the journey a lot more fun. “
