Pastel Palette
Pretty means pastel and for weddings it usually means pink, peachy hues and light blue shades. It’s best to avoid monotones (specially black and grey!), but you can use brights (but only sparingly!) as accents in your colour scheme.

Pretty Blooms
Here are certain blooms that are always pretty – roses, daises, hydrageas, baby’s breath etc. Always go for blooms with more petals in pastel hues. Tiny florets in pretty colours are ideal too. Stay away from flowers that are too ‘sculptural’ looking like orchids and lilies. Blooms with large petals tend work better for elegant or modern wedding themes

Petals!
If you’ve got limited budget for flowers, loose petals are a cheap and pretty way to dress up your tables and venue. You can use real rose petals or plastic fabric ones that are available at decor shops. A cute idea would be to string the petals into garlands and hang them with fairy lights for an enchanting effect.

Coloured Sparkle
Add some glitter to your pretty theme with coloured plastic ‘crystals’ or glitter dust. Find a hue that matches the colour of your other decor elements and add these sparkling accents to your flowers, table settings, stationery and even the gift favours.

Satiny, or sheer, pastel ribbons!
The more ribbons the better! wrap them around bouquets and centrepieces, and even dangling from your floral arch or trailing down the sides of your tables. Combine a few different colours and place them like table runners. String them along the aisle or along the side of your tables and chair backs. Create pretty bows and place on your place settings or amongst your centrepieces like ribboned flowers. Allow your creativity to run wild!

Lacy Details
Whether you’re using lace fabrics or lace trims, lacy details evoke a romantic vibe. Avoid using fine laces with intricate, dense patterns as these can be too vintage looking. Opt for more affordable lightweight cotton laces with floral details and patterns. You can use lace fabrics as your tablecloths, drape them into an arch trimmed with florets or just drape them over chairs. Smaller lace fabrics can be used as place ‘mats’ for your table setting or as part of the centrepieces. Lacy trims can be used to decorate your menu cards, gift boxes, flowers and even as a hair accessory for your briadal look. You can even use a lace pattern design as your stage backdrop – work with the AV lighting people for this.

Painterly script and visuals
Nothing looks prettier than flowery calligraphy and script for your wedding stationery. Written in pastel hues and accented with watercolour designs like flowers and ribbons, you stationery will set the theme of your celebrations beautifully.

Butterflies!
Silk butterflies placed within floral arrangements, or strung up by the hundreds will create a pretty and magical mood for your celebrations.

Fairy lights
It’s really old school but those lights from your Christmas tree can add a pretty glow to your evening decor theme when used creatively. Besides stringing them overhead or dangling with floral strands as a stage backdrop, you might consider weaving strands of fairy lights (with portable battery packs) within your floral centrepieces.
