Local jeweller Carolyn Kan teamed up with Paige Parker, gemologist and prolific writer, to create a collection that would accompany the modern woman to chart her own journey in life.

Inspiration for collection? Paige’s love for travel and her Guinness World Record road trip across 116 countries over six continents in three years with husband Jim Rogers. The author recalled in her travel memoir, Don’t Call Me Mrs Rogers, of the turning point that motivated her to stop being a passenger and take control of her life.

The desire to instill this value in her daughters coupled with Carrie K.’s penchant for creating versatile modern heirlooms that tell meaningful stories, laid the foundations for a great collaboration. Thus, the Journey collection was created.

Visual icons such as the compass and angular coordinates of the globe were inspired by Paige’s obsession with globes and the memorabilia she collected during her travels. The notion of wearing a navigational tool as a staple jewellery helps empower the wearer in finding the courage to step out of her comfort zone and never take the backseat when charting her own journey.

When it came to the gemstones, Paige, who is a GIA certified gemologist, handpicked the precious stones used in the collection. Each containing a different meaning, the gemstones featured include red garnet, blue topaz, moonstone and green onyx , representing passion, courage, strength and protection respectively.

Designed for the convenience of the wearer in mind, the Compass Link Chain Bracelet and Compass Link Chain Necklace features a compass motif that doubles up as both a clasp and the centrepiece.

The innovative design also allows for multiple bracelets to connect seamlessly into a choker or a long necklace. The versatile design also lets you wear the Link Chain Necklace in at least two ways, worn long, or with a drop detail.

Journey is also the first full collection in which fifty percent of its profits will be donated to the Singapore Committee for UN Women. The self-funded, non-profit organisation runs programmes that empower women through education and job opportunities.

Also chaired by Paige Parker, an executive board member of the committee, other aims of the organisation includes raising awareness and funding for Ending Violence Against Women, Economic Empowerment, and Governance and Leadership Programmes in Singapore and the region.

Journey will be available at Carrie K. Fine Jewellery Atelier located at #02-02 National Design Centre from Nov 5, 2018. Prices start from $498 onwards.

A made-to-order option is also available for customers in store who purchase 9kt or 18kt gold pieces. Choose from 17 gem selections including topaz, quartz, amethyst, peridot, garnet, moonstone and tiger eye at no additional cost. The second half of the collection will drop on Dec 1, 2018.
