We already know Carrie K. as the brand to go to for whimsical jewellery that “tell stories” in designer Carolyn Kan’s own unique ways. A new service introduced at the jeweller late last month now lets you tell your story, by deconstructing and reimagining your own heirloom or hand-me-down jewellery, which might be too dated to wear today.

Earlier this year, the local jewellery maker unveiled a new atelier at the National Design Centre, and with it, a new direction for the brand - from whimsical to witty - and new offerings made with high quality gems set in solid silver or 9K gold.

Along with its new direction, Carrie K. introduced a new Heirloom Revival service late last month as an addition to its existing Bespoke service, where customers can order one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces that tell the wearer’s own unique story. For the Heirloom Revival service, the element of storytelling remains, but instead of building the jewellery from scratch, parts of an old heirloom jewellery will be incorporated into the new piece.

Have an old jade piece, or an inherited diamond pendant? They can be resetted into new “modern, stylish and symbolic jewellery pieces”, like a diamond studded ring or a statement necklace in a design that celebrates a person, event, or memory special to the wearer.

Bespoke design fees start at $6,000 and the total price will vary with the quality, size and number of diamond and precious gems.
