Time to get your flick on fleek! In this week’s instalment of our #MakeupMonday series, we challenged makeup maestro Sha Shamsi (@ShaShamsi) to wield her wand and whip up an easy eye look on the fabulously flawless Fiona Fussi (@FionaFussi). The results should take you from the boardroom to the bedroom in well, a blink of an eye.
Daunted by the difficulty involved? Don’t be. A subtly smudged glimmer on the inner rim of your upper and lower lids adds an alluring “rich girl” gloss to your entire ensemble, and is embarrassingly easy to execute for beauty buffs and beginners alike.
Quick note on picking your products: Selecting a liner with good glide like Tom Ford Beauty’s Eye Defining Pencil is absolutely essential for waterlining – you don’t want painful tugging along this delicate area of your eye.
First, lay down the base by buffing in a fawn hued creamy pencil onto your upper lids to diminish discolourations, then ratchet up the drama by tapping a high-wattage shimmer right smack in the centre of your lids. The flirty flash of metallic when you lower your gaze is incredibly fetching indeed.
On to your waterline. Starting from the outer corner and using a decisive hand, deftly trace a whisper-thin line around the contours of your lower waterline, then blink rapidly to transfer some of the pigment to your upper waterline. When you’re done, give your upper lids another once-over with your liner, this time using a windshield wiping motion to tidy things up so there are no visible breaks in the line. Easy-peasy.
Next, grab an angled brush to smudge on a shadow in a complementary colour from say, Urban Decay’s nifty Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette (go with black-on-black or gold-on-brown, for instance). Swirl your brush with a beguiling bronze and blend into the socket; this delicate diffusion of colour creates a soft wash that’s very Korean (and office-friendly!) indeed.
All that’s left for you to do is to tidy up your brows and lick on lashings of inky mascara – product recommendation-wise, I’m obsessed with Chanel’s Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil and Le Volume de Chanel mascara – and you’re set to smoke up the town.
Voila! Very visionary, very fun and very wearable, right? But don’t take my word for it: Click “play” on the video above for all the industry insider info you need to wing it with these party-perfect peepers!
