Why genderless fragrances are taking over the 2025 scent scene
Genderless fragrances that work as unisex perfumes are changing the game in Singapore. Break free from traditional gender labels and find the best versatile scents to wear
By Lucy Lauron -
Frankly, any fragrance (whether they’re marketed as masculine or feminine) is unisex if you want to wear it. That said, the beauty of unisex fragrances is that they’re more neutral, not too floral, too musky, too citrusy- too anything that doesn’t match your tastes. While these preferences are subjective, unisex fragrances tend to prioritise the emotions and concepts behind the fragrance, rather than appealing to a specific gender.
In other words, unisex perfumes are all about appealing to your vibe, not pronouns. Want something clean and fresh? Something grunge? Something seductive? These new releases are putting your vibe first. Scroll on for our recommendations.
Never Ending Summer Perfume, Maison Margiela Replica
Features notes of: Bitter orange, aperol and pepper, earl grey tea, cardamom, nutmeg, vetiver, cedarwood, patchouli, vanilla, Peru balsam and cashmeran.
The vibe: A quintessential summer scent, this fragrance is all about the summering on an Italian beach. The Amalfi coast, to be exact. Like its name states, the scent is all about capturing sweltering summer days, sun-kissed skin, and an Italian beach adventure. It’s a spicy citrus scent that starts as a spritz accord (which is a fragrance that’s designed to capture the scent of an Aperol Spritz cocktail). Eventually, it bursts into a bitter orange, earthy veviter spicy ginger that literally smells like a summer beach and sparkly champagne.

Muse eau de parfum, Yves Saint Laurent
Features notes of: Incense, lavender uurika, clary sage heart, orris concrete, ambrette absolute, vanilla bourbon absolute, ink accord, ambery woods accord
The vibe: If you just finished your copy of The Secret History or a Dead Poets Society rewatch, this fragrance might be your style. Inspired by ink, Saint Laurent’s Muse is woody, smoky, and as enigmatic as the character that haunts the narrative. It’s a little intense at first, but settles into a subtly boozy vanilla, with wisps of lavender and orris. It’s a scent that says “come closer,” as the more you take, the more subtleties you discover; hints of earthiness, tartness, and more. The best part is: even by the five-hour mark, it still lingers, leaving its mark like ink.

Blanche Absolu de parfum, Byredo
Features notes of: Aldehyde, rose centifolia, peony, violet, musks, sandalwood
The vibe: If your vibe is more about lazy mornings with the scent of fresh laundry, Blanche Absolu by Byredo is for you. It’s an intensified version of Byredo’s iconic Blanche eau de parfum. It’s clean and airy, like a literal breath of fresh air. If I had to describe this fragrance in a word, it would be “elegant.” It’s comforting and clean, and dries down into a spicy floral musk that still retains its clean and soapy scent. Maybe I’m biased, but as a sucker for clean scents- this is one of the best favourite fragrance drops in 2025 so far.

Raspberry Ripple cologne, Jo Malone London
Features notes of: Redcurrant, raspberry, white Musk
The vibe: Got a sweet tooth? Wear it on your sleeve. Jo Malone’s latest fragrance is tart, tangy, and bright without being too gourmand. Inspired by the nostalgia of raspberry ice cream on beach days, Raspberry Ripple is syrupy sweet, while still retaining the tartness of raspberries. It’s fresh and fruity, perfect for sunshine-filled days with a zingy glacial treat.

Eucalyptus 20 Perfume, Le Labo
Features notes of: Eucalyptus, cedarwood, labdanum, frankincense, red thyme, gurjan balsam, hyssop, musk
The vibe: If clean and straightforward is what you want, Eucalyptus 20 is the scent for you. Inspired by the catharsis of traversing through peaceful woods, this scent is about embracing the unknown. It’s a warm and earthy scent, with a fresh kick of eucalyptus and cedarwood. It’s simple and understated, perfect for those looking for seclusion and introspection.

Aurner eau de parfum, Aesop
Features notes of: Magnolia leaf, Roman chamomile, cedar heart, citrus, cardamom, pink pepper, sandalwood, Cypriol heart
The vibe: Created by long-time Aesop collaborator, Celine Barel, Aesop’s new scent Aurner will challenge what you think you know about floral fragrances. If you love the powdery scent of floral fragrances, but find most to be too sweet, Aurner might be what you’ve been searching for. It starts off sharp and spicy with the pink pepper and citrus, but dries down into a floral scent with depth. It’s metallic and herbaceous, and unlike most floral scents I’ve personally sniffed. It’s a floral scent with nuance, perfect for nonconformists looking for a signature scent.
