Light wispy lattice structures of face veils framed the faces of models walking down the runways of FW ‘20. The netted veil, which was more commonly associated with bridal wear, has now been given mainstream fashion’s official stamp of approval. Marc Jacobs paired a speckled tweed skirt suit with a matching derby hat and a black netted veil.

At Louis Vuitton, the veil was attached to a velvet LV-branded headband and was neatly trimmed to a feminine scallop edge right above the upper lip.

Ever since Prada introduced the fashion world to the idea of embellished padded headband in SS ‘19, the hair accoutrement has ostensibly gained major traction everywhere. Having successfully set the stage for the headband to make a striking comeback, it was of no surprise to us when Prada introduced a new variation of the Alice band – but this time, it looks dangerously knife-sharp. The Prada tiaras are cut from shiny reflective metals, branded by the Prada logo in the centre, and feature mezzaluna-shaped structured propped upright to add height above your head.

Fendi, however, took the soft padded headbands and offered a different twist: wearing them upside down instead. Worn on the back of the head, thick headbands in padded leather, blush pink velvet, and jewelled tone satin scrunchies provided a brand new insight as to how we can accessorise next season.

Fancy a touch of old school Hollywood glamour? Designers turned to dressy evening gloves to give their looks a heightened sense of drama and old world elegance. That’s not to say that they borderlined on costumey, however: opera-length gloves were anchored by a refined sensibility as they were paired seamlessly with contemporary looks ranging from sleeveless draped dresses to tailored suits. Standouts from the season include Fendi’s blush pink leather pair, Givenchy’s off-white number (tactfully styled with a gargantuan statement ring, might we add) and Giambattista Valli’s white opera-length gloves rendered in pink watercolour florals.

The second we spotted Dior’s printed bandanas on the FW ‘20 runway, we knew it would be a fast-selling Instagram favourite come next fall. Inspired by the ‘70s, Maria Grazia Chiuri offered a fun accent for her many looks for fall: the bandana. Tie-dyed, monogrammed, or plastered in groovy Seventies-style patterns, the bandanas were about to be a huge hit amongst the fashion crowd.

Fresh from your grandmother’s trove of jewels, vintage-inspired heirloom charms are about to be big next fall. Possessing a precious “pre-loved” quality and oweing a huge bulk of its appeal to that personal, emotional connection one would have towards a family’s prized locket or charm bracelet, heirloom jewels with an antiqued finish are revisited to imbue the season’s jewellery with a more thoughtful, nostalgic vibe. At Chanel, chunky gold chain bracelets and necklaces were dripping with colourful saturated gems and letter charms. Dolce & Gabbana had a statement choker featuring pastel crystals, and Dior’s faux pearl bracelet showcased an assortment of random charms that looked like a collector’s prized possession.

At Missoni, floppy Renaissance-style hats in colourful stripes looked as though it could be pulled off by any modern woman with a bright red lipstick and a flowy slip dress.

Keeping in line with the “comfort is key” mentality of the season, soft cushiony shrugs and collars crafted from a tuft of feathers and soft fur are here to keep your necks warm and snug this fall. We’re utterly obsessed with Lanvin’s furry collars that were seen in a slew of dreamy colours ranging from pastel pink to powder blue. Teamed next to sexy slip dresses, the soft pilose collars were fitted with a gold brooch in the center.
