1. It’s based on the Baroque era

The name Barocko is a portmanteau of the words Baroque and rocks (aka gemstones). The Baroque style of art is characterised by the use of saturated colours to produce a high-contrast and dramatic atmosphere. The source of inspiration is clearly evident in Bvlgari’s latest collection, which features curved silhouettes and brightly coloured gemstones.

2. Bvlgari taps on its Italian heritage for inspiration

Fun fact: The Baroque period was kick-started in Rome in the early 17th century – the same city where the Italian jewellery powerhouse was set up by founder Sotirios Voulgaris in 1884. Naturally, the brand has tapped on its roots to find inspiration for this collection.

3. Rare gemstones from around the world were used

Only the rarest and most exclusive gemstones “unearthed around the globe by Bvlgari jewelry creative director Lucia Silvestri” were used to realise the pieces in this collection. One example: the “Blue Fantasy” platinum necklace (pictured above), which features a 47.57-carat sapphire sourced from Sri Lanka as its centrepiece.
