Luxury watchmakers continue to spoil us with an ever-growing array of timepieces crafted with the most precious metals and jewels, so where do we even start when hunting for the perfect watch? Fortunately, we’ve done the hard work for you. From Audemars Piguet’s latest collaboration with musician John Mayer to Chaumet’s stunning faceted bracelet timepieces, we’ve rounded up the newest and hottest watches on the scene.
Audemars Piguet’s latest collaboration taps on the creative vision of singer John Mayer, who has long been a friend and collector of the brand. With the combined efforts of Mayer and the manufacture’s artisans, a mesmerising azure “Crystal Sky” dial is born. The embossed brass plate within the limited-edition white gold quantième perpétuel (QP) is composed of sharp edges and facets that require an atomic-level technique to accomplish.
“My favourite watches have dials that you can stare endlessly at. A great watch dial feels like a picture window—you look into it, not at it. In the case of this QP, it’s like looking up at a moonless sky. There is a true sense of nature in it. And when you couple that sense of depth and vastness with the complication of a perpetual calendar, it is a very powerful combination of technical prowess and aesthetic design,” says Mayer.
Say hello to Franck Muller’s new Long Island Evolution Master Jumper, exclusive to the Asia Pacific region. Unlike other triple jumping displays that focus on the calendar functions of the watch, this new complication has been implemented with three numerical indications for the time and date functions. The constant jumping requires ample amounts of energy to perform smoothly, which pushed the manufacture to innovate a double-barrel system to provide sufficient torque to power this timepiece, which took over four years to perfect.
Chaumet has revitalised its Joséphine Aigrette watch collection with two new models rocking modern bracelets in rose gold and steel. The faceted links hark back to the collection’s signature V-shaped aigrette motif and the elegant openwork design does away with a traditional buckle and instead, flexibly wraps around the wrist with ease. The bezel of both models is set with diamonds to add a little more sparkle to the wearer’s daily life.
The precise movement of stars has long inspired the OMEGA Constellation collection and the Swiss watch manufacture has upped the ante with a new range across four sizes—25, 28, 29 and 41mm—featuring distinct meteorite dials. Every slice of the ancient space rock is unique and enhanced with OMEGA’s colour treatment technologies to achieve radiant hues of green, icy blue, lilac, rhodium-grey and gold. The new models come in stainless steel, Sedna Gold or a combination of both, all of which are stamped with the Constellation Observatory medallion on the caseback.
