It’s been less than a month since Netflix’s Queen of Tears ended, with the finale setting a viewership record as tvN’s most-watched series finale – its 24.9 per cent national viewership rating shattered Crash Landing On You’s nationwide viewership rating of 21.7 per cent.

So many tuned in for a reason: it features the star-studded duo of Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-wo, with their chemistry as the main leads gripping viewers. Queen of Tears also features the screenwriting talents of Park Ji-eun, her sterling reputation stemming from her work on My Love From The Star and Crash Landing on You.

Queen of Tears' premise is a twist on the cliches of recent romance K-dramas: office worker Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) falls in love with intern Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), revealed to be the heiress to the company. Instead of chronicling their budding romance though, Queen of Tears instead jumps ahead three years to when their relationship has fallen apart. Now CEO, Hong Hae-in is icy and distant – and Baek Hyun-woo wants out.

This dramatic plot is brought to life with keen attention to detail, including the fashion choices of the characters which reflects their lifestyles. The outfits and accessories carried by Kim Ji-won, in particular, have gone viral. The designer products she carries with style reflects her character's status as the CEO of a major chaebol.
