The Balenciaga Summer 2024 collection marks a deeply personal journey for Demna. Unlike his last comeback show in March 2023 where everything was oh-so-polished, Demna went back to his rebellious roots, unleashing gargantuan silhouettes and resurrecting and repurposing vintage threads. And let’s not forget those head-spinning accessories – picture a stiletto doubling as an evening clutch and a long wallet that’s practically a passport with two travel tickets peeking out. Quoted backstage by the industry rag, WWD, he quipped, “I don’t believe in a perfect, polished, beige angora world. I think fashion should be fun. It should be playful.
