4 sustainability queens tell us why Schwarzkopf Professional’s latest Igora Zero AMM is the hair colour formula we should all consider
This vegan ammonia-free formula ticks all the right boxes for anyone who is trying to go green

Sustainability has been on our lips for a hot minute now. But it’s not something that should be passed off as a trend.
According to a report by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s 2023 Annual Climate Report, “the combined land and ocean temperature has increased at an average rate of 0.11° Fahrenheit (0.06° Celsius) per decade since 1850, or about 2° F in total”. In short – the more wasteful we are, the more uninhabitable the world becomes for us and our future generations.

Thankfully, beauty brands big and small are taking huge strides towards sustainable efforts. Because at the end of the day, every little effort counts, and the smallest ones start at home or at your favourite beauty spots.
One of the brands that recently adopted this effort is Schwarzkopf Professional, with the introduction of the brand’s latest Igora Zero AMM hair colour.
It comes in a sustainable packaging, made from 100 per cent recycled aluminium tube, along with 100 per cent recycled plastic cap and a minimum of 92 per cent recycled paper folding box. This way, you can rest assured that you will be achieving the best colour at home or at your favourite without damaging the environment.

The formula is also something to write home about, as it is formulated with a unique phytolipid technology that contains a blend of natural micronised oils (derived from grapeseed and apricot kernel) and optimised pigment mixes.
This allows for equal pigment penetration from root-to-tip, delivering the best and most vibrant colour job sans patchiness. It also is infused with omega 9 unsaturated fatty acids to nourish the hair shafts, leaving it moisturised and well-conditioned. Igora Zero Amm colour comes in 40 shades.
And the best part about it is that, as its name suggests, contains zero ammonia – meaning that it does not reek like typical hair colour formulas.
Achieve a multitude of looks

Because of its versatility, this sustainable hair colour is able to deliver the best quality colour jobs. Such include high lift and refresh, where the colour blends different shades to reliably lighten and tone your mane in one application, as well as delivering a chic balayage that allows lifted sections to easily blend with the rest of the hair for a face-framing impact. For something more straightforward, it can help you to effortlessly achieve 100 per cent white hair coverage.
But don’t take our word for it. We checked in on three sustainability queens who went through the colouring process with Schwarzkopf Professional’s Igora Zero AMM, and here’s what they have to say.

Dorcas, who is a designer with an architecture firm by day, creates infographics on her Instagram account (@earthtodorcas) that aims to provide layered environmental issues into informative content that is easily digested by her audience. “Sustainability is about reciprocating the love that mother nature gives us everyday,” she shares, when asked about what sustainability means to her. “It's about taking care of what's around us, and what's within us, so that we can have a cycle of abundance for everyone.”
Having had her tresses treated by veteran professional hair stylist, Vivian Kuit, at Charlotte Tattoo Makeup (@charlottetattoomakeuphair), Dorcas shares that she loves that both the product and packaging were “well thought out.” Dorcas, who has never had her hair coloured before, flaunts her new copper highlights while adding that the experience with Charlotte Tattoo Makeup and Schwarzkopf Professional’s Igora Zero AMM gave her a sense of peace, knowing that the product came from the Earth and can go back to the Earth in a clean and sustainable way.
Lumin Hew, Founder of Fashion Parade and CEO of Lums & Friends (a sustainable fashion community)

In October 2021, 22-year-old Lumin (@bylumin) founded Fashion Parade (@fashionparadesg), a fashion collective catered to the Gen Z crowd. This fashion forward collective educates its followers on sustainable fashion through its creative social media content. One of the recent notable projects that Lumin has worked on is an installation for Singapore Art Week at Nowafter Cafe, a hip industrial-style Korean desserts cafe at Design Orchard. “I think it’s important to consider all factors and all impacts of decisions,” shares Lumin, when asked about how she incorporates sustainability in her business. “From the design process or organisational get go all the way to the end result and outcome. Researching and constantly learning from experts, always searching for better alternatives.”
Lumin breathed new life to her hair with the help of Kenzo How (@kenzohow_1106) at Revival Hair Gallery (@revivalhairgallery). Kenzo picked a combination of cool beige and chocolate brown for Lumin, who wanted something “natural yet different”. Lumin comments that the lack of ammonia odour was what made the hair colouring experience unique to her, and she looks forward to rocking this new do.
“It is so important for existing brands to be contributing to the sustainability movement and to be designing and creating products that are better for our planet and for us consumers too,” she adds. “I appreciate that this product is safer, has less chemicals, and is also vegan. I don’t want to be harming the planet and harming my health when I’m colouring my hair. Nobody should!”
Christina Rasmussen and Sasha Wijidessa, founders of sustainable cocktail bar, Fura

Christina Rasmussen (pictured right) and Sasha Wijidessa (pictured left), co-founders of sustainable gastrobar Fura (@fura.sg), has one goal – to make sustainable and conscious dining welcoming for all. From insect proteins to “ugly” vegetables (parts of vegetables that are often discarded and wasted), the sustainability duo introduces a novel twist to a tried-and-tested concept in order to champion their agenda.
“It’s important to make small changes because it goes back there – being strength in numbers,” shares Sasha, when asked about the subject of sustainability practices. “The small changes are in (the) actions that are extremely manageable and easily incorporated into our day-to-day lives. This then allows for more people to do so, and in longevity. And that equals a much bigger, (more) positive impact made to our Earth.”
“The whole process was very easy on my hair”, reports Christina. She adds that her hair took on the colours quickly, and she enjoyed that it didn’t reek of ammonia. “The whole process was nice and comfortable,” she shares, as the duo paraded their new vibrant hair dos.
