Rebecca Lim is on to baby number two

But it’s not what you think

No, Rebecca Lim isn’t pregnant again. But she has just delivered something that took nine months, demanded emotional labour, and left her completely spent: her first English drama series since becoming a mum.

“I just finished an English drama with Weiyu, and that took nine months of my life. I was just saying that it’s my second baby already,” she jokes.

Still, the idea of a second baby isn’t completely off the table. At the launch event for aesthetics and wellness brand BMF The Aesthetics People’s The Postpartum Edit: A 12‑Week Journey, the newly appointed Friend of BMF laughingly shared that with the latter’s support, she’s entertaining the idea of expanding her family.

It’s a passing comment, but one that hints at how far she’s come.

In the months following the birth of her son in early 2024, the award-winning actress was overwhelmed physically, emotionally, and mentally. Returning to set, an environment she once thrived in, suddenly became one of the hardest things she had ever done.

“In the first few weeks of returning to work postpartum, I was crying every day during lunch,” she recalls. “I was pumping alone, I didn’t feel or look my best, and I had so much difficulty memorising my lines. There was so much self-inflicted pressure. And I was away from my baby. I felt very alone.”

It took two weeks for Rebecca to “snap out of it,” but she’s quick to clarify that healing wasn’t instantaneous.

“That wasn’t who I was,” she says. “But it takes time. I really want new mums to know that. Everyone has their own pace. Don’t compare yourself to someone who bounces back in six months. I took a year and a half, and I’m still on the road to recovery.”

Along that road came physical changes, mental hurdles, and a renewed appreciation for what truly matters.

At the 2024 Star Awards, just three months after giving birth, Rebecca, who had gained 30kg during pregnancy, found herself under scrutiny not for her achievements, but for her body.

“Change is huge. I get very emotional talking about it. This whole motherhood journey hasn’t been easy, and being in the public eye is a lot of pressure. And I definitely didn’t feel or look my best.”

The harsh comments hurt. “I’ve been in this industry for a long time. I know not everyone will like you. But I’m only human. I used to pretend it didn’t affect me, but deep down, it does.”

What kept her going was support from her husband, who never belittled her emotions, and from her circle of mummy friends.

“Once you have a baby, your world revolves around them. But it’s also important to carve out time for each other. My husband and I take weekly walks around the neighbourhood. It brings us back to our dating days.”

Another turning point came when she crossed paths with BMF The Aesthetics People. Initially seeking gentle treatments to help with stubborn postpartum areas, Rebecca found more than just results. She found reassurance, empathy, and a space to feel like herself again.

“Before BMF, I was doing everything to lose weight healthily. Acupuncture, physical training but some areas just wouldn’t budge,” she admits. “I was a chubby kid growing up, and that insecurity stayed with me.”

Through BMF’s personalised postpartum solutions, Rebecca began to regain her confidence.

“I can finally fit into my honeymoon jeans,” she shares. “For the past year, I didn’t dare to wear anything sleeveless. Now, I feel like I can celebrate how far I’ve come.”

Her go-tos? The Indiba Body Curve System on her arms and back, and the glass skin facial, which her makeup artist Shaun Lee joked had her looking like “she’s back.”

BMF’s campaign, Still Me, With More, mirrors Rebecca’s own transformation.

“After giving birth, I was trying so hard to find my old self. But now I’ve realised I don’t want to go back. I thank my old self for bringing me here, but I’m happy with who I am now. I’m still me, but with more.”

Her story also helped inspire The Postpartum Edit: A 12-Week Journey, a new wellness programme by BMF tailored for mothers navigating postpartum recovery. Developed by second-generation owner Louisa Leow, who was dealing with a high-risk pregnancy at the time, the programme blends aesthetic technology, nutrition coaching, and emotional support.

“It’s there to tell every woman: you’re not alone,” says Rebecca.

That message of shared struggle, collective healing, and finding your own pace is what Rebecca wants other mums to take away from her story.

“I used to think self-care was a luxury. Now I know it’s necessary. This journey of motherhood isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon. You need to be strong for yourself before you can be strong for others.”

Today, her son is 18 months old. She’s slowly easing back into work, taking on roles that excite her.

“Physically and mentally, I’m ready,” she says. “Bring it on.”

But more than anything, she’s living with intention.

“Having a child, and having lost my dad recently, it’s a reminder to live each day to the fullest. To treasure everyone around you. And to be happy.”
