If you haven’t been keeping up, the Hello Kitty renaissance is in full swing. Though the iconic mouthless mascot from Sanrio has never really disappeared, lately, she seems to be everywhere. From shoes to phone cases, the runway to pimple stickers, and even making appearances on planes and trains, Hello Kitty has asserted her dominance. Celebrities have hopped on the craze too; Blackpink’s Jisoo openly expresses her love for the adorable character, Saweetie and Dua Lipa flaunt Hello Kitty bralettes, and even Kim Kardashian, along with her daughter North West, have incorporated the beloved cat into their manicures.

Hello Kitty may have originated as a creation by Yuko Shimizu in 1974, but she has undeniably achieved global status. While her official 50th anniversary isn’t until November 1, the celebrations and collaborations show no signs of slowing down. A masterclass in subtlety, GCDS unveiled its Fall/Winter 2024 collection with a playful twist. Just zoom in on the details to take note of the fictional character on metal bra cups (main picture on the top of the page) and floral accessories.
