Many count on Hermes for its luxurious leathers and artistry, but did you know what else goes into its shoes to make them extra-comfortable and functional? Here’s a semi-anatomical study of its utilitarian Spring Summer 2023 women’s footwear collection.

One of the more fun yet feminine sandals this season with its psychedelic foliage-like motif, this seemingly flat suede goatskin design has, in fact, 2.5-millimetre-high rubber inserts added to its midsoles for greater comfort.

The soles of the knit, technical jersey and calfskin high-top sneakers are made of EVA – or ethyl vinyl acetate – so they’re as light as possible while that of the sporty sandals are covered in a film of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), which is known to be slip-resistant and tolerant to abrasion, splitting and tears

Set to be the next It luxury slip-on-and-go adventure sandals, these duo-toned slides with broad straps are crafted from sheepskin, and ultra-lightweight andergonomic EVA soles.

Another off-duty, hot-weather classic, these calfskin sandals with adjustable equestrian-inspired straps and demure triangular hardware that’s a reinterpretation of Hermes’s H Diamant motif is also kitted out with 2.5 millimetre-high rubber inserts in its midsoles.
