Dior Cruise 2022

During the lockdown, Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri stayed active doing pilates and, like all of us, was craving freedom and movement. This unlocked her desire to design these free-flowing Grecian-inspired goddess gowns for Dior’s Resort 2022 collection.

The peplos – a draped, single piece of outer garment worn by women in ancient Greece – was reimagined by Chiuri in a myriad of ways. But the Roman-born designer went one step further with the choice of footwear she paired with these ethereal gowns. Chiuri addressed comfort and beauty in one look by pairing the dresses with sneakers, elevating the ever-popular athleisure aesthetic in response to the younger gen’s preference for unfussy fashion.
