Rock this F/W'17 trend like the stars

1/10

For S/S’17, designers at major fashion houses such as Givenchy and Valentino were all about the ultra-feminine pink.

As we approach F/W’17, the gentle hue is deepening into something richer, darker, and more sophisticated. It’s as if the Spring-Summer girl is blossoming into someone more womanly.

And henceforth, hot this autumn is…*drumroll* the colour red. Seen on the catwalks of Fendi, Prada, and Givenchy (just to name a few), the bold traffic-stopping hue is your go-to if you’d like to be a scene-stealer this season.

While we have tipped you off before about the allure of red dresses in our previous red dress shopping guide, we understand if you’re still feeling a little uncertain about how to work this latest trend into your daily outfit. After all, it can be an outrageous fashion statement to carry.

No worries, just take a leaf out of some of our favourite celebrities’ style book.

Wearing a striking red dress on a red carpet is a risky move because you may just disappear into the backdrop.

But the French actress (and you can emulate the effortless beauty sensibilities of the French here) still manages to capture everybody’s attention at last month’s Shanghai International Film Festival thanks to her dazzling Chopard diamond accessories.

Besides being sexy, the colour red can also exhibit a sporty appeal.

Local influencer Melissa wears a bright red bomber jacket (and she has taken a leaf out of our runway fashion look-books here) and pairs it with a floral dress, lending her outfit a punk-meets-girl-next-door feel.

For those of you with closets filled with mostly monochromatic outfits, embarking on a style switch can be a daunting move.

But if you’re keen to find out if red works well for you, why not try on a red colour accessory? Such as the baseball cap as worn by Felicia here; it goes well with your weekend outfits and instantly solves your bad hair days.

Hairstyle is key — opt for choppy bangs to exude the ‘mei mei’ look. Then, match it with a no-frills T-shirt dress and consider it sorted.
