These designers point the way for this season's biggest footwear trend
Rounded toes may be infinitely more comfortable, but it is the pointed toe that truly took the stage during the A/W ‘18 presentations. From elegant stilettos to bedazzled velvet boots, here are the standout kicks that have caught our eye

Look sharp (yes, we went there) in one of Fall 2018’s hottest shoe trends: the pointed toe pump. Sleek with an edge (we can’t stop, can we?), the classic style is one that favours every woman’s body - whether one is petite, or rocking a curvier frame. It all has to do with simple optical tricks: the sharp toe elongates the line of your leg and gives the illusion of #legs4days. It also does the job in making your legs appear slimmer too. Sold, and sold.
Across the A/W ‘18 runways, we’ve seen the streamlined silhouette on just about every style of footwear, from sexy stilettos, sock boots and ankle straps to T-straps and mid-calf boots.
From Givenchy’s sleek kitten heels to Jacquemus’ sculptural strappy heels, here are 10 stunning pointed toe kicks to bookmark for the season.

Delpozo took the standard pointed toe, block heeled mule and added a sprinkle of something extra no one saw coming: a ribbed sky blue peep-toe sock festooned with strings of silver sequins. Think of it as the reinvented sock boot of the season.

Teamed with vibrant coloured argyle socks that seem like a doff to 1995’s Clueless, Versace’s pointed toe heels took on an edgy punk-rock vibe while sporting gold buckles, numerous dome studs and tartan panels. Considering how tartan and check mania happens to be a big trend this year, we’re surely keeping an eye out for when these hit the market.

Antique florals and brocades were prevalent throughout Brock Collection’s romantic, old soul-centric A/W ‘18 collection. It goes without saying then, then the brand’s shoes would also take after the collection’s vibe. These lovely mules showcase dainty vintage-esque florals and a delicate thin strap across the instep.

There was a focus on pointed toe boots for Tibi’s A/W ‘18 show. Look after look, pointed toe boots delivered in a variety of silhouettes and colours made their way down the runway, from slouchy knee-highs to glossy patented styles and stylish crocodile skin numbers. The two styles we found most intriguing though, were a pair of mid-calf boots with contrasting horizontal lace-ups and a sleek white pair with black netted mesh overlay.

Rendered in a stunning chocolate velvet, Sonia Rykiel’s kitten heel sock boots look particularly luxe encased with chains of scintillating gemstones. And since we’re such big fans of all things extra, that itty-bitty, might-as-well-not-be-there kitten heel has seriously captured our hearts. After all, it does add a certain charm to these dazzling kicks. Jewellery for your feet, Madame?

To our delight, Jacquemus is debuting more sculptural shoes for Fall 2018. Well-known for surrealist artwork-style heels that made headway in the footwear department since the brand’s S/S ‘17 collection, Jacquemus’ A/W ‘18 collection spoke to a softer, more refined version of the shoes with its brand new successor: a pair of shoes with suede pointed-toes and abacus-shaped wooden heels.

For Fall 2018, Prabal Gurung had a pair of statement pointed toe slingbacks with loosely tied ribbons around the front, and asymmetrical wooden heels. We like to think of them as your typical ballet flats gone wild (p.s. check that feather-trimmed detail featured at the side). Another number worthy of our mention is the chic lace-ups with (yet again) wooden geometric heels. It seems like sculptural heels may just be catching on quick in the fashion world this season.

Is it a boot? Is it a mule? Givenchy’s got us played with its cleverly designed shoes for the season. Let us take a moment to appreciate these duo-toned kitten heels, shall we? Boasting of a razor-sharp streamlined opening that matches that of the toe, these shoes come with contrasting coloured backings that have cunningly been made to camouflage with the models’ black stockings or ankle during the show.

A pointy-toed bootie that falls under the ankle - the one silhouette of choice Tory Burch chose to zoom in on for its Fall 2018 footwear collection. Featuring clean, modern lines and kitten heels, the shoes came in patent leather or embossed reptile skin. Presented in a primarily neutral palette (black, navy, chocolate and caramel), the true standout pair came rendered in a stunning shell pink.

Featuring a PVC front that’s shaped to a pointed toe, these high heeled stilettos from Alexander Wang’s empowering lady boss A/W ‘18 collection boast of polished metallic accents and a bedazzled strap.
