We're not saying here at Her World that we're always correct when it comes to trend-spotting. But what we can confidently say is that whatever we advise you to try in our magazine issues through the year (and that's 12 x all our fashion pages) would be things that excite you, entice you and hopefully, would be the holy-grail something in your closet.
Here's the round up of 12 trends we like - if you've already subscribed to them, that's totes awesome. If not, they're still relevant next year, or the next, or the next next...

Whether it's hot off the high street or anything designer, white's right. Fashion is an attitude, and going back to basics says you're not trying too hard. With '90s minimalism back in full force, even our go-to bag label Dior has dipped in.

The operative word here is humble. Why? In today's context where almost everything has to be a game changer, the baseball cap is, well, just that: basic, functional, like a T-shirt that you can wear with anything.

Inspired by the understated but elegant handbags of the '40s - a period when women used the same bag every day with almost every outfit - the Celine clasp bags reflect the same school of thought but are adapted for modern life.

That would be the pearl. Faux or real, it lends as much grace to anything as it does to a necklace.

Why do we love a turban? It elevates every look (yes, even jeans and tee), can be casual and formal, is good for bad hair days – without being one size fits all.

A lot has been said about it: how versatile it is, how ruggedly cool it is, how it gives everything - even the hundrum - the requisite edge. Well, the latest lot we saw in 2017 was even better: studded, embellished, fringed or glam-rocked.

You may have noticed that we have a thing for boots. Not because we think they are kinky (because we do not and they are not). We like them because they make everything we wear – from casual to formal – more interesting. And, these silver ones are very Moonwalk, very glam rock, very we-have-to-have-them.

From the mid ’80s to the early ’90s, the one thing that most women then relied on to go from casual to dressed in zero was a jacket. Boyfriend-sized with big shoulders, and either single- or double-breasted, it was the throw-on solution for almost every situation: “I need to look presentable.” Throw on a jacket. “I look crap.” Throw on a jacket. “The dress now looks wrong.” A jacket can help. “I wanna look like a pop star.” Here you go, a Gucci jacket. That jacket came back. And it’s as useful and purposeful as it was 31 years ago.

What makes the cut for every day jewellery? Well, it has to look good – in a modern yet low-key way. It should also be good on its own yet play well with others. And importantly, it has to be in 18K solid gold or 925 Sterling Silver (not plated please) to really endure the every day.

Queen Elizabeth is never without one (around her head or neck). Rihanna experiments plenty with hers (apparently she’s a big fan of Hermes and has used them as bandeaus). Twisted, folded or tied, the square scarf transforms from one thing (headband) to another (necktie) regardless of its make, fabric and price.

If you really think about it, nothing is more off putting (and boring, and eye-rolling) than when fashion takes itself so seriously. Gucci’s Alessandro Michele knows that. That’s why he, who brought back logos, has taken it to the next level – seriously designed tees to purposely resemble “it can’t be real” bootleg jobs.
