To say Matthieu Blazy‘s Spring/Summer show last year was one of the most hotly anticipated shows of the season would be an understatement. Held in September, the show was Blazy’s sophmore collection for the Milanese brand. The creative director describes the collection as one that expounds on the “perverse banality of the everyday nubuck looks, to the eroticism of ultra-sophistication through tailoring”; designed it for both women and men and for any occasion.

Blazy enlisted the help of pioneering Italian designer and architect Gaetano Pesce (known for his innovative use of colours and materials) to craft the space which included 400 resin chairs and a runway made from the same glossy material. The venue was designed to showcase diversity and how no two people are ever the same.
Casual looks opened the show; oversized cotton tees, light wash jeans made from leather and large, layered trench coats with an extra collar. Among the opening looks was ’90s supermodel Kate Moss who wore a leather flannel shirt and leather jeans. The drama came later in the show in the form of colourful printed dresses, a faux fox fur print on suits and oversized blazers in patent leather. Bottega Veneta didn’t disappoint either when it came to accessories. A new bag style, named ‘Andiamo, was introduced on the runway, along with chunky earrings and necklaces.
Ahead, a look at some of the pieces from the Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2023 collection to get.
The name translates to “let’s go” in English and the bag is described to be as functional as it is elegant. The Intrecciato leather body is made of of three compartments: one zipped and two open. You have the option to wear the bag over the shoulder with the accompanying braided leather strap, or as a top handle bag. Also note the metal hardware which is an ode to the brand’s Knot motif.
If you’re not looking to lug around a massive bag, this petite sized bag might just be the one for you. Besides this calming sage green colour, the bag also comes in black for a timeless alternative. Peep the Knot metal hardware on the strap.
First unveiled at Blazy’s Fall/Winter 2022 show, the Kalimero was one of his first creations for the brand. The most distinct feature of the Kalimero is the sliding strap that allows the bag to transition from a shoulder bag to a single strap that you can let hang over your shoulder. This small Kalimero comes in four other colour variations.
Calling all 2000s hobo bag girls, the slouchy Foulard might be for you. This shoulder bag is defined by the pointed end, half-moon shape and gold handle; it is also available in black and a chalky white.
These open-back slippers were first introduced in this collection and is entirely covered in a glossy, gold finish.
The Knot motif was definitely a strong source of inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2023 collection, as seen here in these nine centimeter high heels.
The eye-catching “Bottega Green” (or Parakeet colour) enamel design seen here is courtesy of former creative director Daniel Lee who revealed it at the Spring 2021 ready-to-wear show. It’s since become a signature of the brand.
We are all for chunky accessories, like this necklace made up of teardrop-shaped metal hardware.
Another creation incorporating the famous green hue: these funky stud earrings.
Yes, this is the shirt that looks like flannel from afar but is actually made from printed leather. To achieve the effect, it required 12 layers of printing to get just the right colour and faded effect.
