Lexie Rodriguez is the cool mum you'd want to be friends with
It’s all about a world of fun and fearless fashion, and Lexie Rodriguez is living in it

Comfort definitely plays a much bigger factor when you are running around after kids. But otherwise, that’s about it. I don’t believe I need to dress more ‘mum like’ just because I’m a mother now,” says Lexie Rodriguez in jest, when asked how motherhood has shifted her views on personal style. The 35-year-old APAC regional manager of Soho House, a private membership club for people in the creative industries, has lived and breathed fashion, even from a young age.
She recalls: “When I was 10, my family and I were on holiday in Rome. My siblings and I were given holiday pocket money to spend. And unlike regular kids who would buy loads of different things, I used all of my money to get a small Miu Miu backpack.”
Lexie counts Daphne Guinness as her role model. Known for her distinctive and unapologetic approach to fashion, Guinness easily sticks out from the crowd with her daring style. And so does Lexie.
She’s no fashion victim though. “I definitely follow trends less (than others), and comfort actually influences the way I dress. I also take inspiration from art, architecture and nature.” But she’s currently really into the SS ’21 trends of oversized blazers and bohemian folk prints. She sums up her sensibility as playful, confident, vibrant, free, and eclectic.
So this is how Lexie dresses herself in the morning, “I spend some time thinking about how I feel that day – emotionally and physically – then choose clothes based on that. If I’m feeling down, I’ll wear colourful outfits to brighten up my mood, or if I’m kind of feeling flabby, then I won’t wear anything tight.” It all boils down to a really simple rule actually: Listen to yourself. “I only wear what I genuinely love,” concludes Lexie.
Lexie Rodriguez's fashion essentials
I feel it’s a super easy way to give your outfit character, especially on a lazy day. A good hat is a must, particularly a newsboys hat. I love Eugenia Kim’s hats.
Fashion is one of the most polluting and wasteful industries, so it’s really important to be conscious about what you are buying. I’m a huge lover of vintage fashion and I have several vintage Chanel bags in my wardrobe.
I love my Balenciaga Triple S Sneakers. I usually pair it with a more feminine outfit to make it look more fun and playful.
Whether it’s about the cut, the print or colour, a great jacket makes the look. I have a few from Monse that I absolutely adore. “I love statement pieces. I feel they are timeless, and you can dress them up or down, as well as build your wardrobe around them,” shares Lexie. Some of her go-to brands include runway favourites like Jacquemus, Monse, Comme des Garcons, Alexander McQueen, Rick Owens, Fendi and Helmut Lang, and she either gets them from their respective boutiques or from her usual shopping haunts (Net-a-porter, Dover Street Market, Moda Operandi, and The Store X Berlin).
