The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards happened on September 20 (8am SGT) to celebrate the best of television. And of course, celebrities did not disappoint as they turned up to commemorate the awards show in their best gowns and dresses.
This year saw a variety of colours on the red carpet, instead of the usual suspects of white and black. This ranged from Yara Shahidi's green and Anya Taylor-Joy's yellow Dior Haute Couture to Nicole Byer's purple Cristian Siriano and Michaela Coel's neon Christopher John Rogers. Keep scrolling to see what they wore, and who else made our cut of the best dressed celebrities at the 2021 Emmy Awards.
The Queen's Gambit actress wore a yellow and gold Dior Haute Couture gown befitting any royalty. The hue complemented her skin tone and hair colour, and didn't wash her out. Tiffany & Co. jewels finished her outfit.
Dressed as a ruffled goddess, Nicole Byer came to slay, from her curly updo to her poufy purple Christian Siriano creation. Might we add that the purple hue looks sumptuous against her skin? The comedian wore Francesco Russo shoes and Neil Lane jewellery.
Another one dressed in Dior Haute Couture, Jurnee Smollett looked like a doll in the off-white layered creation. Her outfit worn by the Lovecraft Country actress is finished with Bvlgari jewels and Louboutin heels.
Genius: Aretha's Cynthia Erivo is no stranger to pulling off amazing red carpet looks. This clean white Louis Vuitton dress with a blue, green, and white peacock-esque train is no exception.
Gillian Anderson went with a boho spin for her red carpet look with this ivory Chloé creation and Jimmy Choo shoes. She later took home the Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for her performance as Margeret Thatcher in The Crown.
Sarah Paulson has a penchant for big, dramatic gowns for the red carpet, but she really took it a step further with this poufy, ruched Carolina Herrera number complete with a deep-V neckline. Mateo accessories and Stuart Weitzman shoes completed her look.
Michaela Coel was another actress who wasn't afraid to play with colours when she turned up in a neon bralette and column skirt from Christopher John Rogers as well as matching pumps from Le Silla. The British actress-screenwriter took home her first Emmy Award for limited series writing, for I May Destroy You.
Catherine Zeta-Jones channelled good ol' Hollywood glamour in a maroon high-slit Cristina Ottaviano design. She also wore Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and Louboutin pumps.
As an award presenter, Awkwafina wore an ocean blue Monique Lhuillier keyhole dress completed with a blue clutch.
Yara Shahidi went with an updated version of Dior's New Look with a green Dior Haute Couture gown. Her chunky necklace is from Cartier, and shoes from Louboutin.
