It’s only been a few days since Netflix dropped its new and original series titled Emily in Paris, but it’s already snagged the top spot on the streaming service’s chart in Singapore. Filled with Chanel, croissants and cobblestones, the popular comedy drama is set in the City of Love and Romance, and it stars the recently engaged Lily Collins who plays the protagonist, Emily Cooper.
Emily, a young, sprightly and social media-obsessed digital marketing executive moves from Chicago to Paris for work. There, she faces a slew of challenges: surviving Paris despite being illiterate in French, pleasing her cold and difficult boss (played by French actress, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), trying her best to make her long-distance relationship work, and more. No matter what life throws at her, Emily stays positive and does her best to solve one crisis at a time.
The show is binge-worthy and we finished watching all 10 episodes in a few hours. But what we truly enjoy about Emily in Paris is of course the fancy and fabulous OOTDs. From Chanel to Christian Louboutin, Emily’s closet is overflowing with designer pieces (a dream come true for all fashion lovers out there!). Which makes us wonder: How does a young marketing executive afford such costly clothes?
Anyway, speaking of the clothes, we have stylist Patricia Field to thank. For the uninitiated, she’s the sartorial genius behind The Devil Wears Prada, Sex and the City, and now Emily in Paris characters’ stylish and swoon-worthy wardrobes. And boy, she totally turned Emily into a fashionista whose head-turning outfits are oh so mesmerising, especially during this pandemic period when we have lesser occasions to dress up for.
One thing's for sure: This series is undoubtedly a visual treat for us fashion-loving folks. Keep scrolling to check out some of our favourite pieces from Emily's enviable wardrobe.
