Chinese New Year has always been an occasion to catch up with our relatives and friends. And based on what we’ve seen on Instagram, it’s pretty much the same for many of our local stars. Except that they have fancier wardrobes.

Besides the usual red outfits, many celebs served up major CNY huat-ness by reaching for tiger-themed pieces. After all, it's the year of the Tiger. As we all know, the tiger has always been an animal full of vigour and vitality. Among the 12 zodiac signs, it’s also one of the ferocious-looking ones.

These celebs looked extra energetic and fiercely fabulous, decked in pieces and accessories that sport the animal as well as its prints and stripes. Below, the celeb-edition CNY #OOTDs that we can’t help double tapping on.

Carrie Wong

Sporting a shimmering tiger print top by Saint Laurent and hot shorts, Carrie oozed confidence and coolness in this festive-appropriate getup.

Cynthia Koh

Decked in head-to-toe Gucci's Chinese New Year capsule pieces, Cynthia went for a matching and maximum-impact look, posing like a pro for the camera.

Rebecca Lim

Equal parts feminine and fierce, Rebecca's pink striped pieces by Valentino nail two looks at one go, combining the sweet-looking pink with tiger prints that say, "Approach with caution."

Tyler Ten

The tiger prints on the front and back of Tyler's top by Kenzo transform the classic black tee into an auspicious-looking piece for the festive period.

Chantalle Ng

5/13

Combining bold red with an extra-large tiger head motif, Chantalle's hoodie by Calvin Klein is one of the must-have and easiest pieces to pull off for CNY.

Fann Wong, Zed Lee

Fann and her son Zed were clad in failsafe traditional Chinese red ensembles by Shanghai Tang, enjoying a photoshoot sesh featuring Zed's favourite lion dance.

Zoe Tay

7/13

Zoe looked splendid and every inch like our local television queen in this entrance-making gown by Andrew Gn.

Sheila Sim, Deon Woo, Layla Woo

Lovebirds Hong Ling and Nick colour- and even brand-coordinated their CNY day two outfits, sporting red tops by Balenciaga and styling them with black pants.

Joanne Peh

11/13

"More is more" must have been on top of Joanne's mind when dressing up. She was spotted in a floral print highlighter orange dress, chunky multi-coloured necklace, shiny red stilettos, a bold red mask and a big black tote. This clashing look will definitely draw attention wherever she goes.

Tay Ying

12/13

Romantic on top, party-ready waist down; Tay Ying's red and white outfit sums up her sweet and fun-loving personality perfectly.

Rui En

13/13

Rui En might have picked a CNY failsafe colour, but her asymmetric number stood out with its feminine silhouette and corset-like design, turning up the heat for her look.
