It was a night of Cyber Jungle fever at Capital Zouk earlier this month.

That was the theme of ZALORA’s annual Style Awards. Held on July 10, this event was a gathering of the who’s who of the local fashion scene, bringing some of Singapore’s most fashionable creative talents together under one roof.

The initiative by fashion e-retailer ZALORA, presented by UOB Lady’s Card, was not only to celebrate their sixth birthday, but also to honour local fashion players.

Six individuals were named “Fashion Game Changer of the Year”, “Designer of the Year”, “Fashion Photographer of the Year”, “Female Style Star of the Year”, “Male Style Star of the Year” and “Beauty Content Creator of the Year”.

The awards aims to acknowledge individuals in the fashion industry for their expression and creativity.

Those invited to this exclusive by-invite only event were decked out in tropical inspired outfits with a modern twist to echo the theme for this event – “Cyber Jungle”.

According to ZALORA, “cyber” represents the neon lights and the futuristic vibe of the event venue and makes references to the digital era we now experience and the connections we build daily.

“Jungle” is a nod to everyone who lives and breathes fashion,” said ZALORA. “The jungle (or the society we live in) is (often) filled with many species: Some choose to stand out, others blend in, but all living together with their own role, complementing each other. This mirrors the real world, where fashion taste is unique to each individual yet bonds us all together.”

Multi-tasking maven, Tjin Lee, who founded the marketing and communications agency, Mercury M&C, was awarded “Fashion Game Changer of the Year.”

Founder of Singapore-based womenswear label, STOLEN, Elyn Wong, walked away with the “Designer of the Year” award while the title of “Fashion Photographer of the Year” went to Zantz Han whose works have been featured in SPH publications like Harper’s Bazaar’s and Women’s Weekly.

ZALORA also named local influencers Dalillah Ismail and Danil Palma as Female (presented by the UOB Lady’s Card) and Male Style Star of the Year respectively.

Local makeup artist, Sahur Saleim, who has over 260k followers on Instagram, was awarded “Beauty Content Creator of the Year,” a new category introduced this year’s Style Awards. The award was presented by NYX Professional Makeup.

The winners who took home attractive prizes from QUAY Australia, Desigual, Forever New, Cluse, NYX Professional Makeup, Shiseido and Jack Wills were selected by a panel of judges which included Farhan Shah, Editor of Augustman ; Andrea Chong, fashion, beauty and travel blogger ; Natalie Lee, Category Director of Womenswear at ZALORA; Tok Wei Lun, Fashion Director of T Singapore; and Ginette Chittick, Fashion Lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts.

This year’s event was hosted by local blogger Andrea Chong (who was also part of the judging panel) and winner of last year’s “Male Style Star of the Year” award, Andee Chua.

Apart from striking their best poses at a neon-lit photo booth, guests were also invited to get glammed up at the makeup booth set up by NXY Professional Makeup.

In addition to walking away with goodie bags that included gifts from Quay Australia, Desigual, Forever New, Cluse, NYX Professional Makeup and Shiseido, guests were also treated to runway shows  showcasing new collections from Desigual, Hollister Co., Abercrombie & Fitch and Jack Wills, brands which are available on ZALORA.
