She wowed local and international fashion press alike with her Ong Shunmugam Cruise 2015 collection at Singapore Fashion Week, now Singapore fashion designer Priscilla Shunmugam takes another significant step in the world of international design, with her role on a design judging panel, at the 62nd Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity no less.

Basically the Oscars of the advertising world, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is held annually in Cannes, bringing together the best of the world’s creative talents who will compete in 16 diverse categories. This year, the competition will run from June 21 to 27, 2015, in the French city.

As the sole representative from Singapore’s fashion industry at Cannes Lions, Shunmugam will be joining the jury panel for the Product Design category. Nine other talents from Singapore’s creative industry are also expected to join the jury panels for categories including Creative Effectiveness and Radio.

“I’m taking this as another sign that Singapore’s fashion industry is making people sit up and listen,” says Shunmugam, on her upcoming role as a jury member. “And I couldn’t be happier to represent multiple angles — fashion, women, Singapore, South-East Asia. Incredible!”

“Enormous consideration is given to who will judge,” says Philip Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of Cannes Lions in a recent press release. “We seek out those who’ve distinguished themselves over the course of a career in creativity – people recognised for their professional achievements, but equally valued for their vision, admired for their passion and trusted for their integrity.”
