Associated with certain major subcultures such as the skinheads or punks back in the ‘60s and ‘70s, the steel-toed boot has gained itself a niche following over the years. That’s all about to change this fall 2020. Seen at Miu Miu, spike-studded steel toe caps finished otherwise-dainty bow-strapped mary-jane pumps in sweet pastels such as white and baby blue. Louis Vuitton had a kitten-heel pointed toe pump with a reflective metallic toe.

Just as we thought there was no way we could push the soft and cushy tactile agenda beyond padded bags and shearling coats, fluffy textured shoes are apparently going to be a thing for fall. During the last few seasons, designers such as JW Anderson have made shoving baggy trouser pants into ankle straps a thing. This fall, we’re seeing a new and evolved rendition of the styling trick in the form of cinched boots. At Jil Sander, a soft buttery leather boot with an opened heel had suede ribbon ties snaking around and scrunching up the fabric around the ankles, giving rise to an effortlessly modern and minimalist number we’d imagine would pair well with voluminous white cotton poplin dresses for the office.
