Are you excited for this year’s Fashion Fest? Well, it’s bigger and better as the event is now contained under the Asian Fashion Exchange (AFX) umbrella – with the Star Creation Fashion Design Competition, Blueprint fashion tradeshow and Asia Fashion Summit (we’ll explain more later) complementing the Audi Fashion Festival – making it truly a fashion event to look out for.

The essential details first – the Audi Fashion Festival 2010 Singapore takes place between April 28 to May 2 and will be at the Tent@Orchard, Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. Tickets are priced from $25 to $80. To purchase, log on to

Here’s the official show schedule and why we think you should go – or at least, beg, borrow or steal an invitation.

Opening Show: DSquared² F/W 2010 – 7pm. Limited tickets available.

Carmen Kass, pretty much one of the biggest supermodels in the world after her big break becoming the face of Christian Dior’s J’Adore perfume in 2000, will be walking the show. The twins themselves, Dean and Dan Caten, DSquared²’s designers will also be there to lend their usual spiffy selves to the occasion.

Raoul Fall/Winter 2010 – 7pm, Ticketed.
You’ll want to catch ‘A Capsule of Knitwear by Tom Scott for Raoul’, the first of an ongoing collaboration between the brand and a guest creator to design for a category that they specialize in – from what we see, the indie knitwear designer has some intriguing creations for his own line.

Redken presents The Inspiring World of Redken – 9pm. By invitation only.
Ever attended a hair show under the stars? Local celebrity Redken artists Casey Chua (of Casey Inc. Salon) and Eugene Ong (of Urban Hair by Ginrich Salon) will do couture hairstyling on models live right in front of the audience, along with out-there makeup and music.

Progressive Designer: KTZ Fall/Winter 2010 – 11pm. Ticketed.

Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears – if your designs have made it onto them, then you know you’ve made it – and KTZ has dressed these very people  as well as designed a best-selling capsule collection for Topshop in 2009. Definitely a great lead-up to his Fall/Winter show here.

WAREHOUSE Spring/Summer 2010 -3pm. Limited tickets available.

If you love the comeback of the ‘90s in today’s fashion, you’ll love the romantic grunge details in their Spring/Summer collection.

Tiffany Jewels of Legacy and Style, with fashion by designer label Herve Leger – 7pm. By invitation only.

Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso, Frank Gehry and Jean Schlumberger. You’ve loved their creations for Tiffany & Co.’s and now you can get to see these and more iconic designs all at once at this runway show, complemented by the very sexy clothes from Herve Leger (a pretty interesting pairing). The collection will then be on view at the Tiffany store at Takashimaya S.C. from May 1 to May 15.

Marchesa brought to you by Samsung  – 9pm. By invitation only.

When will you ever get a chance to see the romantic collection of this A-list favourite up close? You might even see the next dress that celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway, who are big Marchesa lovers, don on the red carpet.

Mango Spring/Summer 2010 – 3pm, Limited tickets available.

Be the one of the first to see Mango’s new Limited Edition collections with Moises de la Renta, son of Oscar who used romantic themes for his T-shirt collection, Lee Jean Youn, a Korean whose unique take on basics won him the top prize in the 2nd El Boton-Mango Fashion Awards in 2009, and Zuhair Murad, whose creations have been seen on Emily Blunt, Fergie, Carrie Underwood and just about any celeb that wants to look glamourous on the red carpet.

alldressedup Fall/Winter  2010 – 5pm, Ticketed.

All we know about their Fall/Winter collection is that it’s called Tribal Tattoo – but if their sophisticated Asian-inspired collection from last season is anything to go by, then you’re going to be seeing eclectic but still wearable pieces.

Swarovski Atelier Spring/Summer 2010 – 9pm, By invitation only.

This equation is a no-brainer – Swarovski = pretty, shiny baubles.

But this time, the brand has worked with Nicholas Kirkwood (those fabulous shoe designs that Tommy Ton of JakandJil loves to photograph? It’s most often the work of Kirkwood), Jason Wu (he’s the one that did Michelle Obama’s dress for the Inauguration Ball) and Matthew Williamson (bohemian, colourful and sexy – all trademarks of this Briton) – all designers that you wouldn’t normally associate with a crystal jewellery and accessories brand.

Closing Show: Roberto Cavalli Fall/Winter  2010 – 8pm, Limited tickets available.
Google Song Kyunga and you’ll see why this Korean supermodel and TV host on Korea’s popular music video channel MNET, was chosen to walk the Roberto Cavalli runway. Plus, the man himself will be there too – we want to ask him how he always looks rock-star cool despite being in his 70s.

Star Creation Fashion Design Competition, April 27. Tent@Orchard.

Anything that supports young talent is worth attending in our book – Star Creation is a fashion design competition driven by the Textile and Fashion Federation Singapore (TaFf) – 3 winners out of a pool of Asian talents will be chosen for a $10,000 cash prize by Audi and a one-year work attachment with fashion retailer FJ Benjamin and a chance to launch their own capsule collection.

One will be presented the Audi Young Designer Award (AYDA) with a $5,000 cash prize and all-expenses paid-three week internship at the Audi Concept Design Headquarters in Munich, Germany.

Asia Fashion Summit, APRIL 28 – 30.

This one’s only for fashion insiders – senior managers, creative directors, principal designers of fashion retailers and more from across Asia will converge at this giant networking and learning session.

The topics to be discussed include trend forecasts and eco-fashion sustainability – not terribly exciting, but what’s to come out of these 3 days could impact how we shop in the next few years.

Blueprint Emporium, May 1. The Pit Building.
Being at the absolute forefront of fashion? Priceless. And it’s achievable at the last day of this fashion tradeshow – you’ll get to sample the offerings of cutting-edge brands, many of which are unavailable here commercially.
