Roses, diamonds & music from Piaget

For luxury jewellery and watch brand Piaget, roses have always held a special place in its history. The Yves Piaget Rose, created in 1982, was named after the brand’s founder, a dedicated lover of roses, and the flower has been entwined with Piaget ever since.

Now, almost 30 years later, the brand has created a range of exquisite jewels inspired by the famous rose and ranging from delicate – but affordable – open gold wire pieces, to sumptuous, extravagant jewels like those pictured below.

Hand-in-hand with Piaget’s new collection, another artist has been inspired by famous French roses; singer Melody Gardot has re-recorded the famous song La Vie en Rose to help celebrate the new collection.

According to Piaget, re-creating a new version of Edith Piaf’s iconic song is not something undertaken easily, but for Ms Gardot, a musician with an “exceptional voice”, the task was one she had dreamed of.

"'La Vie en Rose' represents a lot of things for me, but mostly it represents my feelings towards my guitar. What it has brought into my life and how things have changed. 'La Vie en Rose' is like food for my musical garden,” said Ms Gardot.

“For me, 'La Vie en Rose' like music, has allowed me to reinvent myself, and even to change into somebody else completely. Waking up in the morning knowing you can't move or speak, as was the case after my accident, can be difficult and painful. But your imagination feeds on everything that will happen in the future. We all need a new lease on life from time to time!"
