The wedding

They first met through friends during a ski break in Switzerland. Fast forward seven years, Princess Eugenie of York, the ninth in line to succeed the British throne, marries her boyfriend Jack Brooksbank.

It is the second royal wedding of the year, after Prince Harry married American actress Meghan Markle back in May. As expected with the propriety of British royalty, the wedding also took place at the St George’s Chapel in the Windsor Castle.

Aside from congratulating the husband and wife, wedding attendees used the day to showcase their fashion style (as one does when one attends such an occasion). Regal and modest were the overarching themes as guests donned their fascinators and designer dresses.

Swipe on to look at our picks of the best dressed at the wedding.

Before we get started on the guests, we had to spotlight the focus of the joyous day - Princess Eugenie herself. Pictured here, the princess wore a bespoke Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos gown for the wedding ceremony. It has been reported that Eugenie wanted a low v-neck dress to show off her surgery scars on her back from her scoliosis condition.

And her outfits

Later, Princess Eugenie changed into a Zac Posen creation for the private wedding dinner. It was a departure from tradition as previous royal brides, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, went fully with British designers (Zac Posen is American) for their weddings. That being said, Posen used British silk in the colour “blush of an English rose” and took creative inspiration from “the beauty of Windsor and the surrounding countryside".
