Checkmate: A take on a summer classic

Gingham – Vichy, in French – has long been the print of sunlit escapes, striking that effortless balance between nostalgia and modernity. As much a summer essential as bare shoulders and sun-warmed skin, it returns this season with a playful, Parisian twist.

Longchamp reimagines the timeless check print in silhouettes designed to move and easily shift from beach picnics to breezy city strolls. There’s a version with a smocked collar and delicate embroidery, bringing quiet romance to an easy silhouette; another, bareback, loose and cinched with a drawstring waist that strikes the perfect note between chic and casual; and a pocketed style with a removable tie and yoke, lending just enough structure to a carefree shape.
