One of the key tactile trends of the season is ruching. Making appearances from Dior to Balenciaga, the curtain-style pleats decorated crinoline gowns and skin- tight maxi dresses alike. At Givenchy, creative director Matthew Williams turned the glove effect of ruching into sexy, one-piece gloved-sleeve tops and dresses – witty! Meanwhile, at Balmain, fringe-style threads and leather cords mimicked the drapery of the ruching technique, alongside body- con pieces that showed ruched panels spliced in diagonals, with one particular look sporting peek-a-boo cut-outs too.
