A complete look can never be achieved without the right hairdo to go along with it – and hairography never looked so classy as it does when finished with a hair bow. Nowhere was this trend more apparent than at this year's Cannes Film Festival where young starlets like Dakota Fanning and Margaret Qualley topped off their romantic princessy hairdos with various iterations of the bow.

Qualley who stars in Claire Denis’ Stars At Noon matched her black Chanel couture dress with a dramatic organza bow for the red carpet while Elle Fanning turned up for the screening of Top Gun: Maverick with a dainty hair bow barrette clipped on her side-swept golden locks.

Bella Hadid, who stole the show at Cannes with her rotation of vintage dresses from brands such as Versace and Gucci (from the Tom Ford era), made an appearance for the Chopard Loves Cinema dinner on May 25 in a black and white Chanel ballgown from 1986. Wrapping her brunette ponytail? A large white grosgrain ribbon.

If you’re thinking of hopping on the hair bow trend, here are our picks of ribbons and bow accessories to add a little drama to your updo.
