Korean street-style is a veritable fashion world of its own, offering us quirky and fresh ideas that we wouldn’t find in, say the fashion capitals of Paris and Milan. Oftentimes we don’t quite know what to expect, which is why we were so excited to see what the streets of Seoul had to offer this Fashion Week. Take a look at the trends that the best-dressed in Korea have alerted us too, including the beautiful Clara Lee and influencer Laureen Uy.

We saw bold ripened streaks of tomato red and tangerine orange on the streets throughout the first day, which we have to say was a breath of fresh air.

Nevertheless, we were living for the hot and fierce vibes that we got off of these fashionistas.

Subtle for the most part, the tangerine shades (which we have to admit are pretty hard to pull off) were used sparingly to elevate some already chic looks.

That being said, we have to applaud this full-on orange ensemble that gave us some ‘Orange Is the New Black’ realness, definitely fruitful for the camera lenses.

Mint green

Like verdant islands amongst the warmer colours, we noticed cool-toned mint also enjoying its day in the sun. Fashionistas found ways to accentuate this lovely colour with hints of complementary hues in their makeup and other accessories.

Bold prints

It seemed like the motto of this Fashion Week was go bold or go home! Bold prints stood out amongst the fashion crowd, especially the adventurous ones who mixed prints to beautiful results.

We appreciate those who opted for more kitschy prints that stood out simply because they looked eclectic yet well put together.

Bold plaid

We can’t ever see plaid go out of style, and plaid -- in popping shades of yellow and turquoise -- are refreshing takes on this wardrobe staple. In this case, gaudy works beautifully.

That being said, we still love the soft muted vibes of faded pastels, especially in one-piece outfits like this cinched dress in pale blue plaid.

Get textured

The best trend-setters mix and match textures to create a fashion-forward ensemble, and the more eclectic, the better. Fur and frayed denim is a great mix of street attire and classy elegance.

Oh, and have you ever seen a tinsel-like skirt, metallic pumps and a handbag made from actual wood? #SlowClap

Before we continue, can we take a moment and just fawn over how stunning Korean actress, Clara Lee, looks in that ruffled top? We love how it plays with smooth white cotton and a tweed-like fabric, topped off with a crisp parka. And #omg, can you get over her totally cute space buns?

Tweed is one textured fabric in particular that adds a dash of class to any outfit. Who would’ve thought that a long tweed coat would pair so well with a pair of athleisure-esque joggers?

Layering with denim

Having good eye for style includes being able to incorporate wardrobe staples into a well put-together outfit. It’s easy to throw on a denim jacket, but it takes skill to layer it like a fashion queen. Ripped denim jeans over fishnets and a dark denim jacket over a long plaid coat? Simply chic.

Or how about a fur-trimmed denim jacket perched on a layered dress, over a bell-sleeve top tucked into jeans? Gorgeous! We wouldn’t expect anything less from style queen Laureen Uy.

Black boots galore

We’ve noticed a lot more chunky and dangerous-looking boots hitting the pavement rather than ladylike high heels this week, and we’re totally loving those warrior-chic vibes.

It seems that more ladies were opting for a more edgy demeanour rather than straight up elegance, although we can’t deny that their outfits possess a certain somber grace.

Ordinarily we would want to see a little pop of colour, but we have to admit that solid black created the perfect vibe for these girls.

Elevated suits

A man in a well-tailored suit has got to be one of the sexiest things on the planet, but these men managed to raise themselves to a whole new level of dapper. A bold scarf here, and some well-placed embroidery elevated what would be an otherwise standard look.

Corsets

This is the corset trend done right. The voluminous robe-like dress is cinched perfectly by a laced corset to create a super feminine yet edgy silhouette. Also, you have to love that emerald-forest green.

Bomber jackets

We have to say that this caught us off guard, given that the new outerwear of choice is the oh-so-chic puffer jacket. It seems, however, that the world of fashion in Korea isn’t ready to leave the bomber jacket in 2016, which we certainly don’t mind!

Jackets in shades of military green were a hit, and it brought us back to a time when street-style really meant ‘off-the-street’. And, hello, we are living for those straight cut denim jeans! A sneak peek into the next big jean trend, perhaps?
