Isn’t it nice to know that Hollywood is taking notice of the rest of Singapore?
When well-respected stage actress Viola Davis stepped up to receive her Critics Choice Award for Best Actress for her role in The Help – beating out Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams, Tilda Swinton, and Elizabeth Olsen to do so – she was wearing Raoul.
The actress looked stunning in her draped red Wallis dress with its plunging v-neck from the Raoul Pre-Fall 2012 collection.
This was actually the third time Davis has stepped out in Singapore’s most successful fashion labels; she wore Raoul to the Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close premiere in New York and also to the Academy’s 3rd Annual Governors Award Dinner in November, 2011.
Davis is best-known for her stage career, winning a a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play and a Drama Desk Award for her role in King Hedley II (2001) and a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for her role in ofFences (2010).
She’s also been critically acclaimed for her film work in the Traffic (2000), Antwone Fisher (2002), and Solaris (2002); Davis was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her eight-minute-long role in Doubt (2008).
Obviously this is a woman of substance and depth; she can tell a good thing when she sees it and needn’t be swayed by bling, labels or glitter. Congratulations Raoul!
Raoul is located at Paragon Shopping Centre, Raffles City and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
