A spritz of perfume is like the final touch that completes an outfit; an invisible accessory that leaves a lasting impression. Today, major fashion houses are taking this concept even further by crafting fragrances that are a true extension of their design ethos. These aren’t just perfumes but olfactory expressions of the brand’s identity, which capture the essence of their creative direction.
What is especially exhilarating is how fashion and fragrance have become deeply intertwined. The creation of a perfume now mirrors the artistry of designing an item of clothing, with each discipline inspiring the other. In many ways, wearing these fragrances is like stepping into a time capsule of the maison’s history, offering a sensory glimpse into its archives, craftsmanship, and signature styles.
A decade in the making, Hermès Barénia Eau de Parfum is a creation by in-house perfumer Christine Nagel. Named after the maison’s iconic Barénia leather, renowned for its use in the coveted Birkin bag, the fragrance captures the warmth, depth, and subtle patina of aged leather. An earthy base of patchouli and oakwood is brightened by fresh green bergamot, powdery iris, and fruity butterfly lily, alongside the soft sweetness of miracle berry, resulting in a versatile scent that wears beautifully on any occasion. It is also made available as a luxurious hair mist.
A nod to Hermès’ storied heritage, the bottle is adorned with studded details inspired by the Collier de Chien belt, originally created in the roaring 1920s at the request of a client seeking a chic accessory modeled after a dog collar.

British heritage label Burberry was founded on fashion designer Thomas Burberry’s vision to create outerwear resilient enough to endure the UK’s famously rainy weather. This mission led to the invention of gabardine in 1888, a revolutionary waterproof fabric that became a cornerstone of the brand. In a tribute to the elements that inspired its origins, Burberry introduces Oud Storm, a fragrance designed to evoke the scent of an impending storm, with notes of warm cardamom, spicy black pepper, and earthy oak. What’s more? The bottle cap is thoughtfully crafted from the same material used on the buttons of the iconic Burberry trench coat.

Each fragrance in Dior’s La Collection Privée – the French luxury house’s most exquisite and refined line – tells a unique story inspired by the world of Christian Dior, from the grey walls of his childhood home in Granville to the muses who shaped his vision. The latest olfactory creation, Bois Talisman, is imagined by the ingenious Francis Kurkdjian, Dior’s creative director of perfumes. The scent pays homage to the Christian Dior’s famously superstitious nature; he was known to carry a piece of wood in his pocket for luck. Like a modern-day lucky charm, the fragrance envelops the skin in comforting notes of warm cedar and vanilla. The touch of vanilla also reflects Kurkdjian’s own habit of carrying sugar in his pocket. You can personalise each perfume with interchangeable, couture-inspired caps and store them in elegant trunks adorned with Dior’s iconic motifs and emblems.

Guided by the design sensibilities of the Italian fashion house, principal perfumer Clément Gavarry partnered with DSM-Firmenich to create this empowering scent. Just as Salvatore Ferragamo designed shoes with a function and elegance made to help women feel their best, this fragrance was crafted with the same spirit of confidence and empowerment. Fiamma, meaning “flame” in Italian and also the name of Ferragamo’s daughter, is a warm, gourmand blend of juicy pear, lush gardenia, and ambrox, a modern molecule that evokes the richness of ambergris. The name Fiamma also appears in Ferragamo’s other collections, lending itself to a signature flap bag and an almond-tipped sandal.

A tribute to indigo blue dye, long used in denim and Japanese textiles worn by nobles and warriors, this fragrance signals a shift away from the brand’s iconic red poppy. At its heart lies iris, often referred to as the blue gold of perfumery, unveiling soft powdery and woody notes. Anchoring the scent is a mineral accord inspired by indigo ink, layered with smokey, leathery blue vanilla, for a smooth and unmistakably sensual fragrance.

The Le Vestiaire Des Parfums collection is a fragrant extension of the French luxury house. Created by perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou, Capeline captures the mysterious, sun-drenched allure of the wide-brimmed hats for which Yves Saint Laurent is renowned. Just as a capeline hat adds effortless glamour to a holiday ensemble, this scent is the ideal finishing touch for a sun-soaked escape. It opens with a burst of bright mandarin and bergamot, unfolding into a delicate lily accord, gently illuminated by neroli and orange blossom absolute. A sensual trail of white musk, ylang-ylang, vetiver essence, and vanilla absolute lingers.
