While it can be a challenge to get foundation to stay if you have oily skin, you should still use one as it can help your skin look fresh, matte and flawless.
Go for: Compact powder foundation, or lightweight, oil-free liquid foundation with oil-control and skin-mattifying properties.
Skip: Thick, heavy or creamy foundations – these make your skin look greasy.
How to make your makeup stay put: Using just an oil-control foundation won’t help your makeup stay put. Makeup artist Larry Yeo suggests layering lightweight products to help create a better base for foundation to adhere.
For instance, you can apply a hydrating toner to soften and moisturise your skin, followed by a lightweight moisturiser with oil-control benefits, a lightweight sunscreen and a matte-finish primer, before ending with foundation.
Which foundation suits acne-prone skin?: As acne happens no matter what your skin type, there isn’t a specific foundation for those prone to acne.
Larry says:“Instead, treat your skin with the right skincare and use a foundation that suits your skin type.”
