There are a plethora of pore-tightening poultices lining the beauty aisles, but I’m particularly fond of those containing calming clay or charcoal, both of which are fantastic at flushing out the day’s dirt and debris: Simply dab a dollop onto blackhead-riddled regions like the chin and nose, then let dry for about 10 minutes before splashing off with warm water.
Because cleanliness is next to gorgeousness, grab this carefully curated bundle of clay-based bath basics that are well, far from basic, seeing as how they’re multi-purpose marvels that can do double duty as both deep cleansers and mud masks. Let’s line ‘em up for judgment, shall we? Click through for your perusal and purchasing consideration, please.
For an instant boost, pamper your face with the pore-purifying Caudalie Instant Detox Mask, which is chock-full of clarifying pink clay, grape marc, coffee grounds and papaya extract. Slap it onto your freshly cleansed complexion, wait 10 minutes, splash off for #selfie-ready skin.
The superheroine ingredient of this salve hails from the sea: A carefully curated complex of marine-sourced clays and trace minerals promise to soothe and soften for incredibly incandescent skin. Fending off the caresses of your #bae when you emerge from your boudoir may be an exercise in futility!
This captivating creamy concoction is crammed with a ravishing rose-infused clay that’s complemented by jojoba beads and clarifying Canadian willowherb, all of which are excellent exfoliants that are great for getting under the skin and clearing out unwanted riff-raff clogging up your pores. This scented salve is redolent with the fragrance of flowers and ridiculously relaxing to the senses, too – a big beauty bonus in my books!
The hugely hyped Glamglow brand name has its fair share of supporters in our neck of the woods – and with good reason, too. Powermud’s incredibly intriguing mix of mud and oil boasts both cleansing and clarifying components, with an impressive ingredients list that reads like a who’s who of skincare superheroes: Brightening botanical oils culled from prickly pear and pine tree resin; plus mattifying mineral clay and detoxifying teaoxi velvet leaf thrown in for good measure.
Flush out the day’s dirt and debris by daubing on this detoxifying mud mask-cum-cleanser, which not coincidentally happens to be one of my favourite me-time treats. This beauty bauble boasts a mineral-rich mud said to annul acidity and purify pores, plus calming chamomile and redness-reducing lavender water. Slather on a generous glob of the good stuff, lather immediately as a facial wash or kick back your kitten heels for 10 minutes or so if you want to use it as a mask, then splash off for wobbly tofu skin.
This lovely Laneige option comes with exotic Shinan-sourced clay that’s combined with a cooling mint-infused gel that deeply quenches parched skin and decongests pores at the same time. One yeah, one more thing: The incredibly comforting creaminess leaves a super supple finish, so much so that I’ve found myself skipping my moisturiser on nights when I just can’t be arsed to follow through with my eight-step regime.
This awesome Albion antidote for spotty skin boasts a bounty of astringent, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actives, chief of which is a clay compound that promises to polish away pebbly imperfections besmirching your complexion. Leave it on for five minutes as a makeshift mask or alternatively, use this as you would any cream cleanser – either way, your skin should feel supremely soft, pleasingly plump and pore-free after splashing off with warm water.
“Borrow” this beguiling blue-coloured balm from your boyfriend’s bag – the charcoal in the ostensibly guy’s grooming product is superb at sopping up all manner of gunk and grease. Hydrating heroes hyaluronic acid and glycerin are thrown into the mix for a beautifying boost, so you end up with skin that’s moist and matte at the same time. Slather this rinse-off mask onto bare skin twice a week as an intensive pore-tightening treatment.
Right, then. Here’s hoping your time spent “poring” over this piece will result in perfectly petite pores on your part. Try all of ‘em out and let me know if these #HG products work as well for you as they did for me. Cheers!
