Here’s the thing. While I’m no grooming god with all the beauty answers, my prescription for perfection has always remained remarkably consistent: Cleanliness is next to gorgeousness.
All of which is to say: You need to get your fundamentals right by sudsing up and scrubbing down. For that, you can turn to this carefully curated bundle of bath and body basics that are well, far from basic, seeing as how they’re multi-purpose marvels that can stand in for your pricey perfumes. OMG, I absolutely adore this amber almond ambrosia. Amped up with almond oils, a splash of warm water transforms this tincture into an exquisite emulsion that lent my limbs a lovely, lustrous luminescence.
The biggest beauty bonus? This perfumed poultice more than passes the smell test. Soaping up with this subtly scented salve – ravishingly romantic and redolent of roses and green geranium – is ridiculously relaxing, especially when it’s hot as blazes outside. Close your eyes in the shower and you can just imagine yourself being a beguiling British belle caught in a gentle garden drizzle – fresh, dewy and undone. Bottomline? Three words: Check it out.
This divine Diptyque darling is decadent beyond belief, and incredibly Instagrammable to boot. (The embossed bar of bone-white soap will make for a fantastic #flatlay prop.) The perfume proper is charmingly citrusy and almost impossibly intoxicating – to my nose, the scent calls to mind a slo-mo summer dance in a sunlit orange orchard.
Fair warning: Don't apply this when you're feeling peckish, lest you mistake the soap for a slab of mandarin orange mascarpone!
Are shower oils the next big beauty thing? This opulent oil from L’Occitane, for one, whips itself up into a fine foam that sops up the day’s dirt and debris without stripping your skin like its coarser counterparts might.
Feel free to use this as an ad-hoc body mask, too: Simply slather on a generous glob of the good stuff, kick back your kitten heels for two minutes or so, then splash off for wobbly tofu skin. You’ll emerge from the boudoir boasting an alluring almond aroma and a deliciously bouncy body that will have your man hungry for after-dinner dessert!
I’m giving this green tea treat the green thumbs up. Why? For starters, this gorgeous gel’s scent is so very evocative of the eponymous emerald elixir, plus anything containing the beneficial beverage is a boon to me on account of the potent polyphenols involved – fantastic at fighting age-accelerating free radicals!
The incredibly comforting concoction also leaves a super supple finish, so much so that I’ve found myself skipping my body moisturiser on nights when I just can’t be arsed to follow through with my eight-step regime.
This incredibly clean-smelling cleanser does an ace job of soothing my scaly legs in one scented sweep, thanks to its savoury cocktail of skin-conditioning avocado and olive extracts. Slap it on, swirl gently to lather up, then splash off for a smooth-as-chicken-thigh finish. Skin that’s good enough to eat!
I’m telling you, this is one sexy salve. Suffused with incredibly invigorating peppery notes and a heaping helping of velvety vetiver, use this as you would any body wash and with some luck, your skin should be feeling supremely soft and pleasingly plump. Fending off the caresses of your #bae when you emerge from your boudoir may be an exercise in futility!
Right, then. Done with your shower? Step into your strappy dress and out into the night, and brace yourself for the deluge of “what scent are you wearing?” compliments that are sure to come your way!
