There are many things beauty editors can agree on – everyone should use a gentle but effective skin cleanser; sunscreen is an essential step in any skincare routine, and there’s no such thing as too many lipsticks, among others. When it comes to perfumes, opinions can run the gamut and they may even turn up their noses at each other’s favourite picks because fragrances speak differently to everyone. Still, we do find that lighter scents work better in warmer weather, so we’ve picked some of the best floral ones to, well, lighten up your mood as summer rolls around.

From creators Dora Baghriche and Olivier Cresp, who have worked on the Mon Paris fragrance line since its inception, this new summer fragrance evokes feelings of flirtation and passion. It opens with zesty, fruity notes of bergamot, pears, raspberries and peach before mellowing to a floral mix of jasmine, orange, magnolia and peony. Even though its base is a musky, earthy patchouli, the fragrance remains light and airy. If you buy this at the YSL Beaute counter at BHG Bugis, you can get a limited-edition ribbon to dress up your bottle too.
Available at YSL Beaute boutiques and counters.

This new fragrance by Moschino has a whiff of sparkling mandarin orange and granny smith apple flavours that settle into floral notes of magnolia, jasmine and peony. A woody base of amber wood and sandalwood grounds the fragrance to prevent it from becoming too light. The super adorable bear bottle just adds to its appeal.
Available at Metro and BHG department stores, and Takashimaya D.S.

This is only available from 1 June 2019 to 31 May 2020, so if you want to get your hands on this, you might want to do so now.
Available at Chanel boutiques and website.

This scent is reminiscent of endless summer days under the Californian sun. It opens light and refreshing with notes of mandarin and lemon, before mellowing into notes of neroli and jasmine sambac, and ending with a cotton candy and skin musk base. It’s not overtly sweet, but it’s more suitable for those who are not into too-light and airy scents.

The Japanese brand’s new line of limited-edition fragrances is a collaboration between French perfumer Aurélien Guichard (who’s worked on fragrances such as Gucci Guilty and Versace Eros among many others) and French colour designer Mai Hua, who designed the bottles. There are four iterations in the range, and our pick is Shade of Sunrise, which has floral notes such as jasmine, frangipani, ylang-ylang, osmanthus and white rose. A lemon top note keeps the fragrance light, while sandalwood and cedar base notes ground the scent.
Available at major department stores.
