While holiday gatherings might be kept to a party of five (at least until December 28th 2020), it doesn’t mean you can’t go all out with your looks. Besides, throwing all your festive dressing ambitions out the window is just downright disheartening.

But all hope is not lost. And if you're itching to celebrate Christmas and New Years like the good old days without the pandemic stealing your holiday cheer, you're in luck. In this piece, we've rounded up a list of our favourite holiday party looks to try, whether you're out for Christmas dinner or celebrating at home.

Glitter and shimmer

1/12

If you want to go all out with your eye makeup during the holidays, adding the detail of some sparkles or studs outlining the highlight will glam up your look instantly.

Bronzed and dewy

2/12

We love the contrast of subtle and shimmer in this look. Keep the eyes and cheeks warm and golden with shades that highlight your skin, while pairing it with a glossy tint on the lips for the perfect duality.

Soft in pink

3/12

For those of you who prefer something more subtle, this soft and dreamy look is perfect. Easily likened to the looks of Korean celebrities, we love how the the eyeshadow soften and that is paralleled in the blotted lips.

Holographic

4/12

Something about holographic shades just really shouts glamour. Keep it simple with shades that blend easily together and add a coat of shimmer if you want them to shine beautifully in the light, and keep the rest simple.

Pastel rainbow

5/12

We love this iridescent blend of colours and if you’re looking for something festive without being too on the nose with the red and green, stick with this pastel colour option.

Golden glow

6/12

Bronzed and golden, this holiday look is perfect for your New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Pop of Twiggy

7/12

If you’re looking for something more fun and bold to end the year (or start the next year), we love this Twiggy-inspired look. Fan out some lines to accent the appearance of lower lashes for a mod look.

Subtle glow

8/12

If you prefer to keep things simple, just stick to your usual makeup routine with some liner and extra dewiness for that stand-out glow.

Holiday red

9/12

Of course, no round-up of holiday looks would be complete without a red lip in the mix. If you’re going bold with the lips, try keeping it simple with a neutral eyeshadow look.

Smokey glam

10/12

The uniform of masks has only inspired many of us to get more creative with our makeup. Namely with eyeshadows. Take a page from Katie Jane Hughes’ book and add some bronze, colour, and shimmer to your typical smokey eye.

Bold and pink

11/12

Whether you’re a novice at eyeshadow application and blending or you just prefer to keep things simple – this look should definitely be at the top of your list. To recreate it, simply pick your favourite pink shade and create a shape around the eyes that highlight it in bold.

Rosy and gold

12/12

Bringing a new meaning to ‘rose gold’, we love how this rosy shimmer across the lids is outlined and highlighted with a sweeping line of gold. This is the perfect balance of subtle and bold.
