It is no surprise that celebrities significantly inspire us when it comes to beauty trends.
Lately, a new crop of stylish Gen-Z stars including the likes of Jenna Ortega, Billie Eilish and Ouyang Nana have caught our attention with their risk-taking attitudes and statement-making makeup looks.
The 23-year-old multi-hyphenate’s doe eyes are striking on their own. To draw attention to them, she dresses her eyes up with a variety of red tones, from raspberry to copper – with a swipe of vermilion on her cheeks and lips. Dusting a reddish-brown eyeshadow on the baby fat under the peepers adds definition and opens up the eyes.

Taking a leaf out of Wednesday Addams’ book, Jenna regularly wears the goth-chic makeup look. It involves bronzed, sun-kissed complexion and sultry, smoked out eyes. And for her pout? The breakout star famously said that she will “always trust a burgundy lip”. If you’re in a quick pinch but still want that moody smokey eye, line your lower and upper lash line and squeeze your eyes shut for a few seconds to spread the pigment before layering on a darker, charcoal grey eyeshadow to add depth.

The 27-year-old isn’t just known for her electrifying dance moves and stage presence – she’s also been sporting the same eyeliner style since making her debut as one quarter of chart-topping K-pop girl band Blackpink. To achieve a similar effect, get your eyeliner close to the base of your lash line and follow the natural shape of your peepers before ending in a tiny flick.

Since she’s hit the scene, Halle is rarely seen without a pop of highlighter in the inner corners of her eyes. The key to keeping the look modern and fresh is to opt for a pearlescent silver, mixed in with a hint of lilac, instead of a sparkly, glittery highlight. A smidge of eyeliner along the top and bottom lashes, flick of mascara and chocolate brown lips are the finishing touches to her go-to look.

The “Ocean Eyes” singer might be known for her grunge aesthetics, but her look wouldn’t be complete without her signature “Boy Beat” makeup that features brushed-up brows, wispy lashes and a swipe of peach lipstick. To mimic Billie’s fanned-out lashes, apply a slick or two of mascara before lightly pinching a few of your lashes together with a tweezer.
